I love Big Thunder... but look at what has happened now... This is from Reuters online....

LOS ANGELES, April 7 (Reuters) - The Disneyland roller coaster that crashed last year killing one rider had another accident over the weekend after an employee ignored procedures during a reset when no passengers were on board, a park spokesman said on Wednesday.

A Big Thunder Mountain Railroad car crashed into another that was stopped on the tracks during the procedure on Saturday evening, the spokesman for the Southern California park owned by The Walt Disney Co.(DIS) said.

Both trains were damaged and state safety regulators barred two Disney employees from operating the ride until they were retrained. Disney, which had reopened the ride on March 10 after new training, said Big Thunder reopened on Sunday after another refresher.

"We reviewed our operating procedures. Some were not followed and we retrained accordingly," said Disneyland spokesman Bob Tucker. "The attraction is now running with one less train and we hope to add the fourth very soon."

The accident was sparked when a guest waiting to get on the ride pushed at a gate, triggering the ride to shut down and requiring a reset.

A computer operates the trains while riders are on them, but during a reset the computer memory is wiped clear. Operators are supposed to clear all trains from the track before the reset but failed to clear one on Saturday.

Big Thunder crashed in September when a piece keeping the coaster on the track fell off one car in an accident, blamed on poor maintenance, which killed a rider.

I am going to Disneyland this weekend and was looking forward to riding but now it could be a problem....

Don't worry about this too much. This is something that can't happen when guests are riding it because the brakes and stuff are controlled by computers. This was when the ride was closed and they were clearing all of the trains in a manual mode that isn't used when the ride is operating with guests.

Wow! This is scary. I realize it cant happen when people are on the ride. But it still makes you wonder, about the people they have operating these rides!!

I think I really will be scared to ride TOT, in June!! Thinking that the person running the show is one of these that needs to be "re-trained"
