If you as a man or a women don't want a child you don't have sex, it really is that simple.

Or the extreme....

A friend of the family knew he never wanted kids so he got a vasectomy, no oops and no women could "trap" him. And a women who didn't had her tubes tide, that took a lot but she got her wish.

You should tell your friends that even sterilization is not a 100% effective birth control method.

Never once have I said that the man should control what happens, once again you are only using the context that you wish.

I have stated over and over that I have no solution but then again you have not provided a solution either. You keep saying, "It's my ball so I'm taking it and going home!"

Um, no I did not say you said the man should control. You said the man should have some say. But how much and how that should be enforced you did not say. So, you are right, it is pointless to discuss it.

I have provided the solution, its the one already already legally in effect: woman's body -woman's choice. And it should stay that way. That is my solution.

However, I also asked you if you would favor father notification, another possible solution to your opinion that men should have a say. Which is more than you have provided in the way of a solution.

Women would "trap" him? Maybe instead of sleeping around he should have found one woman he trusted and spent the rest of his life was her. If he is so paranoid of women, he should have abstained from sex until he found one he trusted.
That argument is made all the time against abortion. "Maybe instead of sleeping around, she should have thought before she got pregnant." If she didn't want a baby, she shouldn't have gotten pregnant. She can suffer the consequences.

People don't always think. It happens.

Guys do get trapped. Women can totally absolve themselves of any and all consequences that come with unwanted pregnanacy. Not saying all DO, but they CAN. Men can't.

Don't know what, if anything, could be done about it. But it is unfair.

Unfortunately, there were a bunch of well-to-do white men in expensive suits debating the other night and, with one exception, they all believe THEY have a right to control what I do with MY body, even though we've never even met.

Maybe I missed it, but I haven't heard any pro-lifers calling for the banning of in vitro. If abortion becomes illegal, that should become illegal as well.

All except Giuliani who was pro-choice in NY, but then became pro-life on the rightie rubber chicken circuit, and now wouldn't mind if Roe v Wade was or wasn't overturned.

Giuliani isn't a flip-flopper ............. he's Sybil in pants having a debate with himself.

And Romney's right behind him: "I'm pro-choice. Whoa, did I say I was pro-choice? No, I'm really pro-life. Hey, besides confusion, what state am I in?"

And who knew Ronald Reagan was going to be there. But, not George Bush ......... oops, pardon me, the commander guy.

What a sideshow. :lmao:

ITA! Life is unfair and there aren't always perfect, fair solutions available. You try to do the best you can, but ultimately, life isn't fair.

I DID say "with one exception"...:)

Yes, but I think that any guy who is that paranoid about women has deeper issues than that can be cured through a vasectomy. And women have been trapped too (men poking holes in the condom, lying about being sterile).

And no women can't absolve themselves from all consequences. There are medical, physical, and emotional consequences involved with pregnancy, birth, abortion and adoption.

*pulls out popcorn, places history textbook on lap, and watches*

Right, she is more than entitled to allow some guy to make medical decisions for her. Let every other woman make that choice for themself.

Quick question though: When have I ever said this was how it should be? I remember being asked what I thought...in relation to myself. I don't believe I'm holding a gun to anyone's head and saying, "Do it my way, or else!"...:confused3

"Let every other woman make that choice for themselves."

Okay. I'm for that, but for that to be done, you, and everyone else who's advocating 'woman's right' has to let the woman come to that one their own, also.

Now, where's that *studies while eating popcorn* icon?

I would agree with that if the father could gestate and give birth.

So, it's not the father's child? He didn't help create it? His sperm didn't join with her egg to create life? She did it on her own? He had no direct contact and/or involvement?

Wow, that's new Biology! They've taught me wrong all these years! I knew it! :rotfl:

If it's not the father's child...then, why, after birth, does it call him, "Daddy" or "DaDa"?

Oh, did you say something? I wouldn't know because I have you on ignore. J/k :rotfl2:

What does this diatribe have to do with her comment about whether or not a father can gestate and give birth?

Um, where did I say its not the father's child? I clearly said, as you quoted, he does not gestate or give birth.

Keeping trying though.

Okay, I've read this twice and I have no idea what it means. Women's rights = every woman coming to her own decision. Has someone said differently? Seriously, I've been doing housework and I may have skipped some posts.

What does this diatribe have to do with her comment about whether or not a father can gestate and give birth?

Because, the response was to the father having no rights/title to what isn't his child. Just because the father isn't birthing it doesn't mean it's not his. My opinion.

You also missed the ones where it has been established that women are not the only ones who give birth and gestate.

Again, what does this comment have to do with whether or not a man can gestate or give birth?

What's being said is that it's the woman's body, and that she should have control. That's one side...the other says that men should have a say. Now, the 'woman's body' side is saying, "Live and let live. Let her have a say. Oh, but by the way, this is how it shouldbe." Now, saying how it "should" be is not "live and let live".

Again, what does this comment have to do with whether or not a man can gestate or give birth?

Again, it was a response to the fact that the fetus within is not a relation to the father. THAT is what the comment has to do with. I believe I already answered that. Now twice.
