Alright I am back. I will gladly accept any julip/hooch sneakin tips. I had some lovely julips made with fresh mint, special muddle and a choice of 3 kinds of bourbon - Gentleman Jack, Woodford or Makers Mark.
I had to replace my whole Operating System and with a dial up, some things were slow going. Well, on to the end of our trip...
Well after all this tropical madness, we meet up with Tink & Grumpy eating corn dog nuggets on Main Street. Thank the Gods for cell phones and text messaging or I would get nothing done.
Dot plopped herself down and stared at Grumpys corn dog nuggets with such intensity I actually thought they would bark. Grumpy usually doesnt like anyone messing with his food but he gave her one and she trotted off. Maybe he thought it was more expedient or just felt in a giving mood. I was just amazed he didnt growl or mark his food. I decided not to ruminate on this too much.
We all took off to watch the parade. Now I am not a parade person. I like parades as much as the next person but I dont want to stake out my square of sidewalk 2 hours before hand, fighting off all comers who might want to horn their way into my chosen real estate right before the parade. I usually go on a ride or shop but Dot wanted to go so we went. As we walked down Main Street, Grumpy was sucked into the vortex that is the Virtual Magic Kingdom. It is located where the Steamboat Willie movie use to be. As he logged on to his account, the rest of us decided to watch the parade. By some miracle, there was enough sidewalk space that we could see without stepping on toes, fingers or infringing on the sidewalk sitters personal space.
What I really liked about this parade was Walt. Yup, they had Walt Disney lead the parade and that was really cool especially since he has been dead for quite some time. They used the young artist Walt look, and it worked. What was the rest of the parade like? I couldnt tell you. There were floats and characters and princesses and dancing people and critters that shook your hands and gayety to be had by all. I have no idea what the exact floats were, they all blend together after awhile. To me it's all about Walt and The Mouse. Everything else is window dressing.
Well we had to catch the boat back to the Lodge to get our bags and grab our towncar. I contemplated banging on Berts door before we left just to wake him up. Either that or give him a call and offer him a warm, soothing cup of mayonnaise. I love people with hangovers. They are such fun. I figure if you dont want to incite the hateful gags your friends are going to pull on you the next day, then dont drink so much. Either that or get even the next time they are in your position. There were hugs all around with the family minus Bert. Then it was a nice boat ride back home for the last time.
As Tink went for the bags, I talked to Castmember Stan at Lodge entrance. He was a really interesting man. He moved here with his wife when his daughter married some accountant who decided to move to Orlando. Now that he followed his daughter, she is moving to Atlanta (stupid accountant husband) and his wife is all settled with her little job. He likes the Mouse but figures that he will retire next year. There are times that retiring to Celebration and just talking to people while wearing a ranger suit has its appeal.
What would I like to do next time? Hmmmm, I think Jellyrolls and a walk in the woods and cocktails by the fire and Chefs Table and riding the ponies and hmmmmmm. I start jotting down restaurants for next time and figuring out what I am going to wear. Am I insane or what?
Well, our towncar has arrived and its time for the 6 hour journey back home. Its so great to get here and so great to go home.
