PrincessAuroras Weird and Freaky Trip Report - Final Installment

Whew....thank God! I thought I was in a detox nightmare...now the shaking has stopped and the sweat isn't pouring anymore. As a matter of fact, now that I got my fix, I'm back to the normal seeing of the spiders...it's nice to be back in my comfort zone :teeth:

Thanks for the review. Based largely on your review of Akershus, I've decided to give it a try solo on the upcoming trip. I figured that since I'd have to pay for a meal on the day we fly home, I'd rather pay more for a meal at Disney that I'd like to try and likely won't have another opportunity for a while than pay $10 for an airport meal or $15 for a counter service at POP.

I'm glad. It really is good and it beats airport food all to hell.

PrincessAurora, I have loved the TR. There have been times I had tears in my eyes and couldn't catch my breath.

Having read about Grumpy's disposition I would have argued to get Grumpy an enema or let him and Tink have some serious by themselves time :smokin:

But waiting patiently for the end.

I really have enjoyed reading your report. I was sad when your dining report ended. :sad2: And I have gone back again as I am knee deep into our next trip.
I guess all good things must come to an end. :guilty: But like a good book, I am looking forward to the ending.

Hey everyone! I have been buried in work and traveling down and back to Southern California from Northern California. I will be working on the last installment today. Thanks to everyone who has been so patient!

I know, I am a hoser. I have been so swamped and I have to take an early plane in a few hours. Will be back on Monday. The PC has also been acting up and it took me 45 minutes just to get it up and running this morning.

I can say that I have another few trips in the works including a birthday party with Dot and all her screaming friends with me dressed as Princess Aurora.

Well I need to get a mint julip before post time as the Derby is this weekend and that is always an event even if you don't live in Kentucky. I hesitate to tell you how we celebrate. Just let it be known it involves lots of alchohol, southern accents and lots of wrong.

Here's hoping your computer gets itself back on track :badpc: and you have a wonderful Derby weekend! Be careful with those mint juleps...and I suppose we'll be here patiently???? waiting for your last installment on my favorite trip report ever....

....are you doing this on purpose??? :teeth: ;)

Are you sure you aren't from KY? Only real Lou-a-villians party for an entire week before the race! The race is actually next weekend. But you are more than welcome to party with us rednecks for the next 8 days :drinking1 And if you are real nice I'll slip you my secrets for sneaking liquor into Churchill Downs :thumbsup2

Alright I am back. I will gladly accept any julip/hooch sneakin tips. I had some lovely julips made with fresh mint, special muddle and a choice of 3 kinds of bourbon - Gentleman Jack, Woodford or Makers Mark.

I had to replace my whole Operating System and with a dial up, some things were slow going. Well, on to the end of our trip...

Well after all this tropical madness, we meet up with Tink & Grumpy eating corn dog nuggets on Main Street. Thank the Gods for cell phones and text messaging or I would get nothing done.

Dot plopped herself down and stared at Grumpys corn dog nuggets with such intensity I actually thought they would bark. Grumpy usually doesn’t like anyone messing with his food but he gave her one and she trotted off. Maybe he thought it was more expedient or just felt in a giving mood. I was just amazed he didn’t growl or mark his food. I decided not to ruminate on this too much.

We all took off to watch the parade. Now I am not a parade person. I like parades as much as the next person but I don’t want to stake out my square of sidewalk 2 hours before hand, fighting off all comers who might want to horn their way into my chosen real estate right before the parade. I usually go on a ride or shop but Dot wanted to go so we went. As we walked down Main Street, Grumpy was sucked into the vortex that is the Virtual Magic Kingdom. It is located where the Steamboat Willie movie use to be. As he logged on to his account, the rest of us decided to watch the parade. By some miracle, there was enough sidewalk space that we could see without stepping on toes, fingers or infringing on the sidewalk sitters personal space.

What I really liked about this parade was Walt. Yup, they had Walt Disney lead the parade and that was really cool especially since he has been dead for quite some time. They used the “young artist Walt” look, and it worked. What was the rest of the parade like? I couldn’t tell you. There were floats and characters and princesses and dancing people and critters that shook your hands and gayety to be had by all. I have no idea what the exact floats were, they all blend together after awhile. To me it's all about Walt and The Mouse. Everything else is window dressing.

Well we had to catch the boat back to the Lodge to get our bags and grab our towncar. I contemplated banging on Berts door before we left just to wake him up. Either that or give him a call and offer him a warm, soothing cup of mayonnaise. I love people with hangovers. They are such fun. I figure if you don’t want to incite the hateful gags your friends are going to pull on you the next day, then don’t drink so much. Either that or get even the next time they are in your position. There were hugs all around with “the family” minus Bert. Then it was a nice boat ride back home for the last time.

As Tink went for the bags, I talked to Castmember Stan at Lodge entrance. He was a really interesting man. He moved here with his wife when his daughter married some accountant who decided to move to Orlando. Now that he followed his daughter, she is moving to Atlanta (stupid accountant husband) and his wife is all settled with her little job. He likes the Mouse but figures that he will retire next year. There are times that retiring to Celebration and just talking to people while wearing a ranger suit has its appeal.

What would I like to do next time? Hmmmm, I think Jellyrolls and a walk in the woods and cocktails by the fire and Chefs Table and riding the ponies and hmmmmmm. I start jotting down restaurants for next time and figuring out what I am going to wear. Am I insane or what?

Well, our towncar has arrived and its time for the 6 hour journey back home. It’s so great to get here and so great to go home.

COMING SOON: DISNEYLAND WITH “THE FAMILY” IN JUNE AND/OR OCTOBER (since it’s closer than Florida) AND THE WORLD AGAIN IN 2007 WITH A NEW CAST OF CHARACTERS (actually character since it is a girls vacation)

Thanks everyone for all the great feedback! Will be back in a few and until then, I will be terrorizing the food board as well as reading up on other trip reports!

Cheers and have a Mickey Magical Day!
