Princess Storybook Dining at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall

We've done both and the food was better at Akershus. We thought the character interaction and service were better too! That being said, we are doing BOTH on our upcoming trip. The castle is the castle and we can't miss even though the food and service are generally sub par ;)

We have a question about Akershus and the Dinning Plan. So when you book Akershus you have to give a CC# to hold the reservation is that all you are giving them the CC# for? In case you don't show up or cancel in the right amount of time they will charge your card? We have a ADR there in 2 weeks and were just wondering as we will be on the Dinning Plan and want to make sure that is all we had to give the CC# for? Thank you in advance!

We actually like Akershus over CRT. We love the food (only go for breakfast and nothing beats those cheesy potatoes ), the princess interaction, the service, and the atmosphere. Don't get me wrong we do like to dine in the Castle as well only because we are IN the castle not because of the food or the princess interaction. We have started liking to go to CRT for dinner because the food at that time is much better than the food for breakfast IMHO plus since we are on the DxDP, we can justify the cost to go in the Castle more. But if you are not on the DDP, then I would say go to Akershus, you get more bang for your buck. Good luck and have fun.

We just booked ADR for Akershus and asked the CM the same quest abt c/c. We were told it is only to book and will only be chrged if u don't show up or if that's how you want to pay.

I have a question, which I know has been answered before, but I never paid attention to it because it didn't apply to me.

My understadning is that for CRT, CP or Akershus you can enter the park early if you have breakfast reservations and don't need a park ticket. After your meal, if the park has since opened, how do get out of the restaurant without entering the park? I know I didn't word that well, but I think you understand.

Trust me, I'M NOT trying to sneak into the park, it's just that I've been thinking about the question and now it's driving me crazy. And, it just occurred to me that maybe I'm wrong , maybe you do need to have a park ticket to get to breakfast?
You need park admission, even before park opening.

you need park admission... I normally book the early breakfast get in before the crowd and get to the rides before everyone storms in. We loved the princess interaction at Akershus better than CRT.

If you don't cancel 48 hours in advance you will be charged $10 for each person.

We did both just this past week. We enjoyed both equally (CRT and Akershus) as well. We had dinner at each place and thought the princess interaction was the same at each place and the food was equally as good. I had the fish at both places and enjoyed it tremendously. It was nice to have appetizers at both places, too, as we had late dinner reservations and were very hungry. Akershus has an appetizer bar so my daughter was able to pick what she wanted to eat, but at CRT they brought out exactly the things she would eat. Akershus has the princess parade where the kids get to walk behind the princesses as music is played, but at CRT, they have the wishing ceremony which she enjoyed. She also liked guessing which princesses were going to come out next at CRT as they announced each princess with a synopsis of her story.

we've done crt once each for lunch and dinner and we've done the one in norway for breakfast once (on christmas morning 09 actually). it felt like the princesses were less rushed in epcot compared to crt otherwise the experiences were fairly similar. i think the more unique princess meal was dinner at 1900 parke fare...cinderella's stepsisters were HYSTERICAL.

My mom and I went to the Akershus Princess dinner recently and had lots of fun. We enjoyed the opportunity to try some new food and even a new drink and the princesses each stopped and really spent a little time with us even through we were two adult women. And we had a great waitress who was very sweet and smiled the whole time even though it was quite packed. We had the waitress say things in Norwegian

The good thing about Akershus is that you get to meet all of the princesses, so if you have a big princess fan in the group this may even be better than CRT. However, make sure you go here for breakfast. I really did not enjoy the dinner menu. Itdidn't have anything normal enough for me to eat on it. :confused3

I'm in the minority but we really disliked Akershus. We thought the food, atmostphere and princess interaction was so much better at CRT. 1900 Park Fare is also good. I wouldn't go back to Akershus again.

Do people mainly go to this for the princess interaction, or do some people come for the food? I was just wondering, because I was considering going as a single guy for the Norwegian buffet, but it might be weird to see a 25 year old guy in a room full of little girls and princess characters.

We ate lunch today at Akersheus and we were totally disappointed. My kids did not like the food at all, so they barely ate and for the price we paid it was just disappointing. Maybe after having eating at CP and CM and the having the ability to pick more than one food was too fresh in their mind. The pizza looked nothing like pizza and was tiny. My husband and I had the Chicken Breast, it was good but not worth the price. The pre-buffet offered the only food my kids would pick at but for fruit and salami - again not worth it!! Getting the picture with Belle included was nice but too bad it wasn't all the princesses at once. I didn't find much princess interaction either, they stopped for a picture and signed the books but then went off to the next table. Just my opinoin though!

I think I'm the minority. My girls and I went and loved it for Dinner and breakfast. The princess interaction is awesome and you get to see at least 4 princesses during your meal.

We've been there 4 time so far and honnestly never had a complaint about the food or service. That being said, we like to try new food and have no picky eaters.

We really enjoyed the breakfast. Never have done the lunch or dinner. Basics are served with a few things that are not usual like smoked fish and few others. I actually enjoy trying some different things so I give it a thumbs up. My wife is not as adventureous with food but still really enjoyed the basics that were served.

Its great to read about the adult only side of this. DH and I are booked to go the last night of our trip (w/o our boys for this dinner) for my christmas/anniversary gift. We have 810pm reservations, so do you all think we might be done by 9pm to see illuminations? If not its no big deal, but we are just trying to enjoy some time alone together b4 he leaves again in a semi romantic area.
