Update on Peanut!!
We are HOME!!! Peanut is doing well, she isnt 100% back to normal physically, and Im not sure she will be for quite some time. She is very weak physically, and will be starting physio next week as an out-patient. She was having physio daily as an in-patient, but she needs a lot of work to strengthen her lower half, mostly due to all the infections and hospital stays over the last year. Her body really took a toll. As for the infection, its still being treated with IV meds, and we are hoping hoping that by lengthening the the course of meds, that will be enough to save her port. They wanted to add a second IV med, but the one they wanted to use (basically the only other one that could treat her specific infection), isnt available by IV in Canada, only orally.

And unfortunately she needs to have the IV med to treat right at the source of her infection which is her port. So they had to petition the Government to have special permission to bring the antibiotic in to Canada, and to use it. So we wait. For now, she is still on the original antibiotic, until at least next Thursday night. She is due to finish at 6pm Thursday night and we leave for her trip early early the next morning. Could we be cutting it any closer? LOL! We heard from the Pharmacy yesterday though, that they were extending the IV meds until May 3rd, so we arent 100% as to what the plan is (apparently the hospital changed the plan after we were discharged. As of yet, we have not gotten the newest cultures back, so we dont know if its still positive or negative. A negative result does not mean we are in the clear, though. They think there may be a blood clot in her line that is infected, which is causing the positive/negative back and forth with her cultures, as well as the fevers coming and going. Her doctor said yesterday that this may continue until they ultimately take out her port.

So we really dont have a solid plan yet, we are hoping to get more answers tomorrow because I really dont like not knowing anything. Obviously we want to save the port, because its not something that can be taken out and replaced multiple times. As of now, Peanut has been fever free since Sunday, which is great. But again, it doesnt really mean much, unfortunately. She is having a bit of a tough time adjusting to being hooked up 24/7. She hasn't been free from any tubes/wires in 4 weeks now, so its taking its toll. At least when its just her feeding tube, she can be disconected through the day, but she can't be from the IV.

But as always, through all of this, she has been incredibly strong and brave. Shes my hero.
As for Big Gives, we got 2 more this week.
The first one is from Julie DIS: juliesews. She made Peanut lots of beautiful bows, which Peanut LOVES. She is a bow/headband girl, and these will complete lots of outfits, perfectly. Thank you SO much.

Peanut was/is simply exhausted, which you can see in her face. She really WAS excited, even if she doesn't really look it. You can see her new CWF friend, Roary in the pictures. She just loves him. In the last picture, she insisted on trying them all on at once.
Im not sure who the second one is from, I couldnt read the last name on the return address (and wouldnt have shared the last name anyways), and there was no card.

Come out of hiding, whoever you are.

This Big Giver sent the kids some more clothes. Peanut got an adorable Princess pillowcase dress, its just too cute and will look so cute paired with some leggings (it can work as a dress, or a tunic top - double duty). Monkey got a Wall-E button up shirt. Its so nice, and even though Monkey doesnt know who Wall-E is, he really liked it. Thank you, thank you!!
