Princess Half Marathon Weekend 2026 (Feb 26-Mar 2, 2026)

Hey running royalty! 10 weeks until Expo day! :cheer2:

Has everyone started training? How's it going?

I have, but it's going terribly. Winter came much too soon this year in my part of the continent which has made running difficult. I'm not a dreadmill girl, but I couldn't motivate myself to go out when it's already in the low 10s at the end of November. I still have 10 weeks to go though, not all is lost!

There's people in the world who would hesitate to go on a work-funded trip to the most magical place on earth?? Even if you're stuck in boring conferences all day, you're still somewhere more interesting than home
One would think, but she isn't as much of a Disney fan as I am, and she is pretty much an individual contributor and doesn't work with a lot of the rest of the company. So if two or three of the other co-workers don't attend, she literally won't know anyone there. I get that.
Me? I'm thinking here's our chance to stay at the Floridian and enjoy a park day on Sunday!
We'll see what happens.

Training is on hold until after Christmas. I had some minor knee issues in November so I took a break, and then the holiday prep took over and it wasn’t worth the stress trying to cram in running on top of it.

I’m running the half for marathon weekend, so I’m well into a 10-week training plan. It’s going okay, though I’ve had some persistent knee tenderness. After MW, I need to figure out what I’ll do to be ready for PW. I’m thinking I’ll take a week or so off, then repeat the last few weeks of my training plan. I’m not running for time, but I’d like to feel good afterwards. Right now, I’m in the part of the plan that involves running five days a week, four of them in a row. I’m supposed to do nine on Sunday. I’m not feeling super confident, but we’ll see.

I’m doing the unofficial Pirate to Princess Challenge - Lite: Gasparilla one weekend and PHM the next. I’ve been going along thinking I registered for the Gasparilla 15K, but realized this week no - I’m doing the 8K. Whoops. :rotfl: (My friend is doing Gasprailla Half + PHM for the full Pirate to Princess Challenge and I didn’t want to do the Gasparilla half because BT/DT enough times that I don’t care to again, but I wanted to do a Gasparilla race the same day as the half, which turns out to be the 8K. No clue how 15K got lodged in my mind!)

Anyway, yes, I’ve been building distance mileage ahead of PHM and am up to 9 mile long runs.

Did a member of Team Not-so-fast do a Tonya Harding on you?
Asking for a friend....

Does anyone know whether running through the castle and the castle photos will be affected by the castle being repainted?

If I have the history right, they haven’t done any castle repaintings in the entirety of runDisney with the possible exception of the 25th anniversary (which was way more than a repainting). I don’t see any changes to the course as a result of this. The actual photos… probably not? I’m not sure how they schedule this stuff but it sounds like they’re trying to minimize the impact to guests.

I had read an article on the Disney Food Blog (I believe)saying cranes would be lowered every day at noon from January 28th until next year. 😳

The DW says we are going to Disney World for PW!
Her one request was that I not do the Half, so that I'm not a sleep-deprived zombie all day, as she described it based on PW a few years ago. (I can neither confirm nor deny...)
So now I need to score a 10K bib for Saturday morning. Woo-hoo!
Anyone have a spare tiara? ;-)
