Prices being removed from menus?

Eh, he's allowed to think and talk about it. If they are only doing it to maximize the plan and not because they want that food, the poster has the right to grumble about it. Many people don't think about the tip being based on the cost of the food when on a dining plan.

I'm not saying he can't think about it, just that it's an incredibly generous thing he is doing that he should feel good about and his good feelings about it are being ruined by a small percentage of the overall generous act. Just another way to look at it. You can't always control what other people do but you can control how much space you give it in your head.

Me too! I ended up purchasing the dining plan at the last minute, which wasn't even close to a bargain for my MIL, DD and myself because MIL would have been miserable if she'd thought I was paying menu prices. She'd have starved. So I told her it was all inclusive and she ordered dessert every. single. meal! Said she gained 10 pounds! She was blown away by the entire experience and spent her two snack credits on Mickey bars or ice cream sandwiches! She'd always ask the CM, can I get my snack credit for an ice cream, it's my second one today! We lost her 4 months ago, I am so thankful she was able to experience that with us!

Oh, what a sweet and generous thing you did! What beautiful memories you now carry because of it, too.

Except the guests have the menu before the staff knows if they have the dining plan or not.
Or a guest can say no to DP question at the beginning and change their mind later.

Thats true but I've wondered why most servers ask if we're on DDP when they first come to our table. What difference does it make until it's time for the bill?

I would guess it's because some on the DDP think they can order anything they want to on the menu, and the server can help direct them.

Oh, I think it makes sense that they would ask. That way they can help make sure people are sticking to whatever is covered by their plan (DDP vs. Deluxe). If a person orders appetizers and then goes to pay with their regular dining plan credits, they'll probably be in for a surprise when they find out the apps weren't included.

Yeah, every time we've been asked if we're on the DDP and we've answered yes, the server has always gone on to list whatever the DDP covers and doesn't cover for the meal. No surprises that way, for the guests or for the staff to deal with at bill time.
