The menus state the prices. It would never be otherwise.
I would like to see that for a slightly different reason. During our recent trip my daughters maternal great aunt and uncle were automatically ordering the most expensive item on the menu. Sigh they know about the meal plan and think their helping me get my money's worth and keep making that mandatory tip larger.I’ll ask, too: where was this?
At some fancy restaurants, only the person at the head of the table (the person who’s paying the bill) gets the menu with prices on it, and everyone else gets a “guest” or “ladies” menu which does not have the prices. I’ve never seen one at Disney, but I would really like them to offer them when I dine with my parents. As frugal as my parents are, they spend way to much time focused on the price and not on the selection. “Guest” menus would make my life so much easier on vacation.

Well to get a little personal is it because we have over 6 people, in order to keep family harmony and to be able to bring my daughter and her half sister (my god daughter) I have to pay for her mother, stepfather, great aunt and uncle. So I end up budgeting $1000 just or tips and regardless of what I pay for a plan if you don't want an appetizer I believe you shouldn't order it. Sigh I really would like to see those kind of menu'sWell, technically the tip isn't "mandatory" while on the DDP.![]()
If you are technical, tip isn't mandatory, ever.Well, technically the tip isn't "mandatory" while on the DDP.![]()
It's nice that you bring them. Less nice for you if you resent it. Sounds like you have a decent amount of money to be able to afford to be so generous so just let it goWell to get a little personal is it because we have over 6 people, in order to keep family harmony and to be able to bring my daughter and her half sister (my god daughter) I have to pay for her mother, stepfather, great aunt and uncle. It'll be your children sighing about the tip anddd you won't be able to hear them.

Don't they add it in if you are over 6 (or have a TiW card)?

LOL. I'll just have the salad--I can get 10 steaks for the price of this one. or there is no steak worth $50. or how much is that bottle of wine--we can go next door and get one cheaper..,...bwahahahahaI’ll ask, too: where was this?

The thing about being generous to some family members is they can be bizarre about it in ways that make no sense to you. I don't worry about my mother's generation when I take them on vacation.
Can't travel on a plane per doctors' orders. Check.
Gonna need to rent a scooter and be sure the day trip's pavement route is even. Check.
Expect someone will need a nap and don't be surprised if you wind up eating room service. Check.
It's the younger still should be working ones that make me go "Hmmmmmm".
I love this thread--I had an ex-BIL (on DW's side of the fam) that did this whenever he saw me--steak and lobster please--(at a chicken fried steak place..)oh well--ex BILI would like to see that for a slightly different reason. Except the guests have the menu before the staff knows if they have the dining plan or not.I can see Disney doing this for guests on the DDP to try to save costs. Many tend to order the most expensive dishes when using DDP in order to maximize the value. Removing prices may cause some people to order less expensive items.
Me too! I ended up purchasing the dining plan at the last minute, which wasn't even close to a bargain for my MIL, DD and myself because MIL would have been miserable if she'd thought I was paying menu prices. She'd have starved. So I told her it was all inclusive and she ordered dessert every. single. meal! Said she gained 10 pounds! She was blown away by the entire experience and spent her two snack credits on Mickey bars or ice cream sandwiches! She'd always ask the CM, can I get my snack credit for an ice cream, it's my second one today! We lost her 4 months ago, I am so thankful she was able to experience that with us!I’ll ask, too: where was this?
