What's a good bid for a standard car on priceline? We will be traveling May 11-21.

I got 13.95/day for a standard via hotwire for 5/7 - 5/15. The company ended up being Hertz which is in terminal. That price has since gone up to $18.95/day. I have never used priceline name your price option but thought this info might help. Also, there is a website called betterbidders.com (or something similar) where there is a discussion board and you can find out what bids are getting rejected/accepted.

Was that from MCO airport?? I put in a bid of 35 a day for a small compact and it said it was too low. I'd love to find a car for a lot less than the 40 a day that I booked at.

Just ignore priceline when it says your bid is too low. They just do that to try to get more money from you. I would never bid more than $15/day for a compact car through priceline. In fact, I would start at $12.

I would recommend looking over biddingfortravel.com and betterbidding.com before placing your bids so you have a little more information under your belt before you place your bids.

Good luck!

Can you ignore it when they say it's too low? I've always had good luck bidding on hotels, but have never bid on a car. All I know is that 250 for a little over three days is on the absurd side. I'll check out the website that you provided too.

By the way- Hi neighbor!

Go to a website like www.kayak.com and price out a car rental for your dates/locations and note the best prices. Then go to priceline and name a price that's significantly (40% or more) below the best one.

I typically go to biddingfortravel.com or betterbidding.com others that have had successful bids accepted post the rates and the company they got. I always find it helpful when setting my price.

Yes it was MCO. But it was hotwire, not priceline. Check what you can get it for via hotwire and bid a bit less on priceline maybe? I just checked your dates on hotwire for noon pick up and noon return standard size was $19.95 per day $285.50 all in.

I got $11 a day for a standard car. We are traveling May 14-23. With taxes and fees my total is 180. Alamo and Dollar were about $250 at the time I booked last month.
