Hi all. We booked a name your own price on Priceline and got Hertz. My confirmation says that the return time is 6am, but we're not planning on getting to the airport until 9:45am. Will Hertz ding us for being late? We should probably declare that we're going to be late at the counter when we initially pick up our car, huh?

My guess, would be you will be charged. Rental companies provide a 29 minute grace period, beyond that you are charged 1/3 the daily rate (which may be different then the rate you paid divided by the number of days) for each hour up to three hours, after which you are charged for a full day.

WELL bummer. Maybe if we're reeeeeeeeally nice to the Hertz agent they won't charge us. :goodvibes

UPDATE! I'm on the phone with Hertz- we have until 11am to return the car on our return day because that's when we're initially picking it up.

:cool1:

YAY HERTZ!

I would make sure you have the person's name. Yes, this should be the case, but you never know. I made the assumption you had a pickup at 6:00 AM, so that was my fault.

I used Hertz in June through Priceline, they charged me $11 extra because I picked the car up half an hour before the time I booked it for. I didn't realize they would do that or I would have adjusted the time I brought it back. I even said to the rental agent " we're here a little early " when we picked the car up. She said "OH no problem"......the $11 didn't make or break me but just so you know thats what happened to us.

You will probably be fine since you're picking up at 11:00 :thumbsup2.

The lesson here is to put your actual expected pick-up and drop-off time when bidding on PL or HW and not just accept the default. This is especially true if your drop-off time is after your pick-up time because you WILL pay for an extra day one way or another. I would rather pay PL or HW their lower price for the extra day instead of whatever the standard extra day is for Hertz.

I have it- better safe than sorry!! :goodvibes

Hertz is on the second floor of the garage, just a FYI. When you leave the terminal, cross over on the crosswalk and either take the escalator or elevator.
