Price increase on DLR and Premier AP's

Tried all day to buy our tickets for our Disneyland trip. Web site down and so is their system when you call. Was promised a call back but don't think that is going to happen. Looks like our trip got a little more expensive.

Had no problem logging in and gettingt tickets right before 8am EDT. Actually saw the info on the DL price increases via Twitter last night.

I bought mine from aRes... you can print the voucher at home.

Disneyland and Disney California Adventure have added significant value over the past year that Walt Disney World has yet to do. Even the new Fantasyland doesn't compare to what's happening at Disney California Adventure. At Disneyland they also have regularly scheduled special events for AP holders such as the special showing of Fantasmic! You don't see many of those types of "free" extras at Walt Disney World.

I also suspect that Disney is trying to reduce the number of AP holders.

Hopefully this isn't a foreshadowing of a huge price increase at Walt Disney World. I just don't think Disney has added enough value at Walt Disney World to justify such an increase.

Can anyone share with me a way to purchase a premier passport without physically being at a park? I am trying to buy one today, but was told that there is no way to purchase on over the phone or online. I don't understand. I am trying to give them money and they don't want to take it???:confused3

Disneyland does not have the competition like WDW has in orlando. Between universal studios, sea world, Busch gardens nearby and now Legoland. Not to mention all the other tourist traps on international drive. Therefore they can charge more.

I ordered a Deluxe AP online around 2:30pm eastern with no problem. Got my confirmation around 6:30pm.

After numerous calls and attempts online, finally got my tickets. A CM had me hold until someone was available and sent me over to her. They are overwhelmed and dealing with this with only the weekend shift. Saved me a few bucks at least.

The only way to buy a Premier Passport is to physically be at one of the parks. There are no discounts of any kind on the Premier Passport. I too was thinking about buying a Premier Passport voucher before the price goes up, but it is just not possible. There is no such thing as a 'voucher' for the Premier Passport.

Thanks for confirming. I guess Disney is going to get a little less of my money this year. I will now just get a regular WDW annual pass, a 5 day ticket to DL and cut back to one water park visit using some old water park and more tickets.

Actually there is a Six Flags Magic Mountain, Universal Studios, Sea World, LegoLand, Knotts Berry Farm, as well as the San Diego Zoo & Safari Park all within 1 1/2 hours or so of Disneyland. Not to mention nearby beaches, and world class theater within an easy drive. Angel Stadium is minutes away, as is the Honda Center which has lots of concerts as well as sporting events. So, Disneyland has plenty of competition for tourist dollars.

I think tourists may go to Disneyland for one day of their vacation now, rather than making it the focus of their vacation. There is certainly plenty of other things to do in the area.

I don't think so. As I recall, the vouchers/exchange certificates you buy now would expire on 12/31/2012. They would still be good for the amount you paid, but if you use them after the "guarantee" date, you would have to pay any difference between the value of the voucher and the price of the pass.

Be sure to find out before you buy so you know what to expect.

Thank you Carol.

I just bought my DLR deluxe annual today. We are DVC, but knew the price increase would be more than the $20 we would save by waiting to do it there.

We don't go until Dec., but that is a huge savings.

Just FYI, last year we bought our Deluxe AP Vouchers in June, right before the price increase. When we got to the park on our first day, we went to the ticket booth instead of the gate with the voucher. We presented the voucher and our DVC membership cards. They said, sure we can give you your discount, called for a lead, and gave us our $20 discount in the form of a refund (they gave me cash, DH a gift card).
So you can still get your discount, you'll just need to wait in line for it.

That's amazing that the Deluxe AP is going up almost a hundred bucks! Unreal! Will definitely be going to an 11-month/13-month apart trip plan from now on. Can't afford much more than that at those prices! :sad1:

Thanks, it's worth a try ::yes::

Thanks for the tip. I'm going in September and bought a Deluxe AP yesterday. I'll try this.
