Price increase on DLR and Premier AP's

We are going to DLR and VGC in November. I was over on the Disneyland board and they just announced a price increase.

The prices are going way up.

The Premier Passport is going to $849...

Yikes! Deluxe went from $379 to $469! I'm going in September and planned to buy one. I'm not sure how DL passes work, if I buy it now will it be effective on my first visit? I plan to go in August next year so I need it to not be effective immediately. I know DL passes don't work the same as WDW.

I am trying to learn what I can about DLR. We are veterans to WDW and have a lot of learning to do at DLR.

The DL board is saying that they are doing away with the 6 day hopper. Not sure if it is true or not, just what they are saying over there.

Not that I've ever heard of. We're going in 3 weeks and were going to get DH an AP then but decided to just go ahead and buy now since DL has not had much of a DVC discount before.

I just bought my DLR deluxe annual today. We are DVC, but knew the price increase would be more than the $20 we would save by waiting to do it there.

We don't go until Dec., but that is a huge savings.

I don't think so. As I recall, the vouchers/exchange certificates you buy now would expire on 12/31/2012. They would still be good for the amount you paid, but if you use them after the "guarantee" date, you would have to pay any difference between the value of the voucher and the price of the pass.

Be sure to find out before you buy so you know what to expect.

One of the news media outlets said a few months back that John Carter was going to go down in history as "the movie that took down the mouse" and by all indications will bankrupt Disney. And that Disney is scrambling to figure out how to cushion the blow.

Not sure how true those statements are, although it's a pretty reputable news station.

I just don't understand the logic of raising ticket prices by so much. It's going to make it cost prohibitive for a good portion of middle America, which is the bread and butter of Disney. I'm pretty sure Walt is turning in his grave right now.

So, what does everyone think is the best thing to do? Estimate how many tickets a family will need for the next couple of years and buy that many tickets in separate batches and only activate a batch at a time? Does Disney run ticket sales once in a while?

Mousesavers says WDW will probably go up the second Sunday of June.

First day of one ticket must be used before 12/31/2012 and then they expire 13 days later. You can only buy now tickets for a stay before the end of the year.

Actually the overseas box office for John Carter was pretty decent from what I have read. Company did take a write off, so I am pretty sure it won't sink the mouse. Plus the Avengers is making money hand over fist.

DL tickets are different than the WDW. Where you could put away WDW tickets for future use, the DL park hoppers I bought today say good through 12/31/12.

Sounds like Faux News. John Carter is a drop in the bucket for Disney, and has already been offset by Avengers surprising on the upside.

Tried all day to buy our tickets for our Disneyland trip. Web site down and so is their system when you call. Was promised a call back but don't think that is going to happen. Looks like our trip got a little more expensive.
