Price increase in February

This is crazy that prices are going up so quick. Seems like their strategy is “let everyone know the price is higher soon so hopefully it sells faster now” instead of offering an actual deal

They’re increasing just over 3% a year the last 7 years. This one will be under 3%. Not like, crazy quick IMO.

While the 3% is not crazy, Aulani has been on sale for around 10 years and is around 50% sold out. If DVC really wanted to sell it they could lower the price and still make tons of profit. I’m glad that they are not selling much of it, because a lot of those points will never get used for Aulani and make 7 month booking at WDW much worse than it is today.

I’m curious to know how many Aulani points DVD sold from this latest round of incentives. Several folks on this board took advantage of the $133pp incentives for 300 points, including Pete! Last I checked a few months ago, Aulani was almost 2/3 sold.

Unfortunately to get that data you either need to go to Hawaii and spend your vacation time looking at public records or spend a sizable pile of money to look at the data online.

Honestly, I’m surprised the increase is only $6pp. I was expecting a larger jump to maybe $210-215 and that VGF would then open at around $225. Given the VGF demand even at sold out prices, I don’t think DVD is going to let that go at a huge discount relative to the old sold out price.

Maybe increase it then offer bigger incentives?
That way at least they have VGF at 207 with no incentives?

Vgf will start at $207, incentives will differentiate resorts based on dvc sales targets. I’d expect incentives for vgf initially to bring point cost into near or below $200 mark

I keep holding out the foolish hope that maybe they’ll offer incentives on 50 points for existing members. ;-)
I'd love that, too! But I very much doubt it will happen. AFAIK, they've never offered incentives for the smaller add-ons. But I'll continue to dream along with you - at least until sales begin, LOL.

VGF2 will not begin selling direct until "Spring 2022". My guess is they're inching up AUL & RIV slightly to get to like a $225-$240 per point price across VGF/AUL/RIV for a Spring 2022 timing (maybe May or so?)

My guess is they don't care if AUL sells out...i'm sure they rent tons of points directly through Disney with people booking online.

Me three....I may go as high as 100 points…but hoping an incentive for less.

id think it unlikely they will have a price increase in feb/March to raise it again two months later

yeah, this is why i always felt VGF was not going to come in at some crazy high # like others expected. The now annual price uptick was always going to bring the other on-sale resorts closer to $210pp, and that gave them room to bring back VGF either at the same, or a slightly higher price point that still was below the $255 that the sold out resort was listed at. Beyond that, anybody's guess is as good as mine on the specific number it will land at...

They have never raised base price of a resort within months of each other. Given the depressed sales right now in general, I think the $207 is here for those two resorts for when VGF goes on sale,

I also do think sales will be a driving factor in the pricing for VGF and it will be lower than even I thought it will be, assuming they want it to sell at a decent rate,

I know some disagree but VGF is going to be a hard sell to a new buyer against RIV if one has to pay over $10 to $15K more for a resort of mostly studios.

I would be one of those who disagree. When we were considering where to buy last year, the concerns I saw repeatedly were “you can’t get a studio at CCV”, RR resale restrictions and the price of RR MFs. VGF is superior in all three of those concerns.
