Price Increase for AKV AND BLT minimum purchase changes

I don't know about where you folks are from but 'round here, that's a verbal contract. We were never told it could be rescended at any time. I'd bet my attorney would say that's a verbal contract.

DVC has never made any written guarantees about the minimum number of points you could buy. It's just a sales policy that is completely subject to change at any time. The minimum buy-in for new members has changed since DVC started. DVC sales policies are not set in stone, nor are they covered in any of the legal documents.

Maybe you could just kinda s-l-i-d-e me that 100 point ad-on you just made and I'd be in good shape. Problem solved! :p

:headache:
I was hoping to be able to do an add-on either at AKV or BLT one day...if they stop the smaller contracts at BLT now there will be hardly any ever on the resale market later. So I guess that will seal the deal for shopping for AKV resale 'eh... That seems like SUCH a BEEG jump. 50 points is reasonable to plan with banking & borrowing and that's probably more in the range we'd be looking for. 100 minimum is just plain unnecessary.

And I wish they would get their act together on these stoopid mailings and time them so that we all get them within a day or two of each other. We literally waited probably 2 weeks longer for our initial BLT announcement than the first ones that people reported.... That is just not good marketing.

Crap. I need to find a new job folks! (Seriously...I need to find a job!!)

I am surprised by the AKV increase. An $8 increase is pretty significant considering the state of the economy,. I am glad that I added on earlier this year.

The mailer didn't say though...

Will DVC offer something additional to the $8 per point increase for AKV? Maybe something additional to existing $8 credit and developer points...Who knows, maybe they'll bring the $500 Visa Card for being referred by a member or perhaps an even bigger Disney Reward $ credit than the $500 which was previously offered????Strange though in this economy!

Disney is offering great deals for WDW vacations and cruises, I don't understand why DVC is doing the reverse. After the change, a minimum addon at BLT would start at $11,200 (100pt @$112/pt) vs $2,800 (25pt @ $112/pt) for existing members. Why would they want to slow down sales at BLT?

I guess those who are not in a position to buy at the moment, will trade in at seven month window and/or buy resale when things are more stable in the economy.

This sort of news puts a twist in my gut.

DVC needs a lay-a-way plan! Another way to buy in where you can't USE your points / membership until you've actually paid off a certain percentage rather than being able to call & book something as soon as you sign on the dotted line. Or maybe something like if you were buying 100 points and you have paid off 25 then you could use only the ones that are paid for - so say you could book 2 nights on points rather than 6 or something. It would allow people to preserve existing deals / prices / incentives but would help if you were trying to pay for it in cash rather than financing it. (Just a thought... )

I dunno - maybe they're trying to get more people to finance. 100 points will likely force more people to finance at least part of a purchase somewhere, and with the current credit crunch, a lot of them will probably finance it through Disney. It makes more money for DVC than cash for 25 to 50 points. I'd guess they're looking hard at the bottom line here - to keep as much milk as possible flowing from the cash cow.

I'd also guess that DVC has discerned (and likely correctly) that there is a relatively high number of "just HAVE to have BLT" folks and the 100 point increase is cashing in on it.

As for us, for now will be sticking with what we have. We're happy with our paid-for BWV.

Just because they increase the price for AKV to $112 doesn't mean they won't increase the incentive by $8.00 to keep the price the same as it is currently. Maybe someone knows better than I, but have they ever had two different base price structures? I had always felt that when BLT came online for sales the increase would be no where near the numbers that were bandied about and that the new price would apply to ALL new sales with adjustments made to the incentives to better reflect the current demand.

I think Disney is increasing BLT add-ons to 100 points so that people who are thinking about adding on will hurry up and buy up smaller contracts now. Also, people buying new contracts at BLT may buy more points initially because they know that if they want to add on later they will have to add on 100 points. We just purchased at BLT and really considered buying more points becuase we don't think we will ever want to add on 100 points. Ultimately we decided to stick with the 160 for now. Who knows what the future will bring.

I just got this flyer, and I sure hope this silly no more 25 point add on rule is just a temporary thing and just for BLT for whatever reason..Kinda drives me nuts as I wait for DGC to get done..

[/If there is a price increase Jan 15th to $112 and they do offer a $8 credit again, NET PRICE IS $104.

The Current AKV Kidani deals that have been offered is $104 less $8 credit..
Thats $96 NET PRICE..

Someone referred to the fact of no price increase??????? HOW????

I'm really not happy about the price increase at AKV. It's our home resort and we were hoping to add on when we go down for our anniversary in June. I just don't think we can afford to do it by January. That totally sucks!

if they stop the smaller contracts at BLT now there will be hardly any ever on the resale market later

I'll bet this is the point. They are trying to cut down on members adding on at 25 points and then reselling those contracts at a premium, in some cases before the resort is even sold out, to new members who want to get into the system.

somebody at DVC must have looked at all my 25 point add on's:rotfl2: I only like to buy what I can pay for in cash!

Well, I gave in and added 50 more points at AKV. DH & I were discussing adding on next year but decided to strike while the iron is hot so to speak. This is probably what Disney is banking on. But, regardless, I am happy about our purchase. We were looking at resales but they couldn't beat the DVC price. And, $96 per point (and no closing cost) is better than the $112 it will be after January.

$96 a point for 50 points at AKV? Really!? I thought that the $8 incentive was only good for purchases of 100 pts or more? Do I feel an irresistible case of addonitis coming on? :scared:

I believe my guide said the price for AKV will increase and the incentive will decrease to $6.
