Sharing a snippet from an email that I received from my guide this morning giving me the heads-up on pending price increases for some resorts. We had been contemplating adding on at OKW so I assume that the increase will at least impact that resort.

Take it for what it's worth.....

"Good morning. I got notice that we will be having a price increase on several properties. Please reach out so we can complete your add-on prior to the increase."

Am guessing this is a guide you've worked with for quite a while and so trust this truly is news.

Otherwise, I'd be suspicious that guides are being pressured to increase add-on sales...

Not like Disney's focused on making money wherever and however these days, of course.

Yep. I had been having a conversation with her about adding on and holding out for a "fire sale," which hasn't happened.

Having said that, if they don't increase the price at OKW, then I'll be irritated. So far, our guide has been almost zero pressure, low-key, and very responsive.

Ask when the price increases will take effect. If you sign the agreement for your add-on and it's less than 10 days from a price change, you can ask the guide to re-write the contract to reflect the new prices if they are better for you. Some guides will even tell you that up front.

Thanks for the tip, which is appreciated. The likelihood of us adding on direct at OKW will drop dramatically if they do raise the price again, especially so soon after it went from 180 to 200 per point. If we aren't willing to buy at 200, then we sure won't at a higher price point. We'll hold out for a fire sale, as unlikely as that may seem.

It just seems odd to me that they're actually bumping direct prices (for at least some resorts) given the recent poor direct sales of sold-out resorts.

Sold out resort prices are mostly there to make the current in sale resorts look better in my view.

They dont really want you buying sold out resorts, but they will happily sell them to you at a great mark up from what they got them for through ROFR and foreclosure!

Yep, I know that they prefer everyone buy the new resorts. Still seems odd that they're increasing the prices again so soon.

At any rate, I was sharing the info from my guide as a PSA for my fellow Dis'ers. :)

I followed up with my guide and she confirmed that OKW is going to $205 on December 4th. So, we've got hikes coming for OKW and GFV. Interesting to see which others, or maybe all, will be increasing on the 4th.

They need pricing to be bananas at Poly2. They are going to be slowly boiling frogs until then. Maybe incentives will get better here and there.

If they cared about holding the bag on all those RIV and Aulani points, they would have already done something about it. They don't have many VGF2 points, so don't care so much about that.

I suspect that you are correct on the first point.

I'm guessing that DVC is reasonably happy with sales at RIV, all things considered.

I'm very interested in Poly2, but at this point a $230-240 base price won't surprise me by the time it goes on sale. The incentives will be the key. I was originally hoping incentives would bring the initial offering price close to 200, but that's probably fantasy.

They have been steadily increasing active resorts about $6 to $10 each year now, so if they raise RIV and VGF to $217 now, then there will be at least one more rise before we see Poly tower, which would bring it up into the $220's somewhere as a starting point.

I was told by my guide today most resorts are going up $10 pp, with the exception of OKW and SSR going up $5 pp on December 4th.

Thanks for sharing! It will be interesting then to see what they do with new incentives as current ones end November 16th as this increase would be in the middle of that particular round of them.

If it's in the 220's I guess there's at least a chance the initial incentives will bring it down close to 200pp for 175 points, which is what I'm looking at. 🤞
