These blurbs from laughingplace.com:

The Disneyland Resort has increased one-day admission tickets $2. Adults are now $47 while children are $37.

Southern California residents can purchase a special ticket offering one day's admission to Disneyland park and one day's admission to Disney's California Adventure(TM) park -- two full days of fun at two separate parks for the price of a one-day ticket. One day's admission must be used on the date of purchase and the other must be used by May 14, 2003. Tickets will be sold at Resort ticket booths.

So basically, a day at DCA is now free for SoCal residents.

(Yeah, you could look at it the other way around, but attendance numbers would shoot down that theory pretty quick...)

Is there any doubt that DCA is a major bomb in that it has failed to do what it was intended to do, boost attendance???
Its sad when you almost have to give locals free admission to get them to come. And i dont think TOT will solve all the problems.

Disneyland hikes admission price by 4 pct
Reuters, 01.07.03, 3:01 PM ET

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Walt Disney Co., the No. 1 theme park company, has raised the one-day admission price to its Disneyland and California Adventure theme parks by $2 to $47, a spokesman said Tuesday, citing higher costs of new and coming attractions.

Disney, which also owns movie studios and TV networks, increases prices about once a year, said Disneyland spokesman John McClintock, who added that competitors were also raising prices.

The 4 percent increase took effect on Monday and matches one in March 2002.

Attendance at Anaheim, California-based Disneyland rose 3 percent to 12.7 million last year, despite a small drop in theme park attendance worldwide, according to Amusement Business magazine. Disney does not release annual figures.

Disney, which has targeted local residents to counter a drop-off in international tourism, also on Monday offered a two-for-one ticket to local residents -- one day at each park for the price of a single day at one park --- good through May 14.

Disney is trying to boost attendance at California Adventure, which opened in 2001 to lackluster reviews. Disney has added new features, such as "A Bug's Land" last year and a new stage show based on the animated feature "Aladdin."

I heard part of a story on one of Seattle's stations on their noon news. I wish I had heard the whole thing but what I did hear was enlightening.

It was to the effect on how Disneyland admission has increased 24% since 1998, but attendance has dropped by 1 million and how Goofy it is that they would make another price increase.

The two tickets can be used on the same day as well – one ticket for Disneyland, the other for DCA.

Anaheim finally has its one day park hopper. It will make the attendance figures look nice, but it’s going to eliminate the minicule revenue that DCA was generating.

Ah, good point. If I remember correctly, hoppers only count for the attendance of the first park the guest enters that day.

In this case, if the guest decides to hop, it will count for both.

While not everyone will use it this way, certainly some will.
