Sorry if this has been answered before - I looked and didn't find an answer.

I'm wondering what the price is to purchase BWV directly from Disney. I already have a SSR contract and am looking to add. Just trying to compare resale to buying direct.

Disney will not charge you closing costs on your add-on, and your dues will be pro-rated the first year based on the day you get the points in your account (which is usually 24 hours after you pay for them.)

I have never thought of an add on until now. Do you just call Disney and put in a request? or is there a way to find out whats available. Thanks.

About how much do you think you save in closing cost? Does it go per point or per transaction?

My data is over a year old but at that time closing costs were $500 for contracts of 150 points, less for smaller contracts, more for larger ones. Best thing to do is call The Timeshare Store and tell them what size resale you are considering and they can tell you exactly what your closing costs would be.

You just call your guide. Tell him/her what resort you want and how many points you want to purchase. Disney will only sell you the same UY as your current contract but you can add on points at any resort. Depending on the resort, there may be points available immediately. If they don't have points for your UY available, they will put you on a waiting list.

You have to purchase a minimum of 25 points, or 50 points if you want Disney financing. You can purchase any number of points greater than or equal to those numbers. For example, if paying cash you can purchase 27 points or 33 points or whatever number works for you.

There are no closing costs when you add on points through Disney. Prices vary: BCV, BWV and VWL are $95/pt, OKW is $92/pt, VB and HHI are $87/pt. I'm not sure about SSR -- it lists for $101/pt but I think you get a $10/pt discount if you purchase at least 50 points. And AKV is selling for $101/pt, but if you purchase 100 or more points you have a choice of a $8/pt discount or a set of unbankable "developer points" valid for 7 months.

Thanks so much! I was gonna ask about the prices at the other resorts - but you read my mind!

I already have 190 at SSR. I am looking into BWV for the purpose of the 11 month booking on the small contract.

Thanks Again - I appreciate it!

Can I just go through a reseller for an add on? I looked and the prices are less per point. But maybe it evens out because of the closing cost? thanks for the info.

Of course you can:thumbsup2[/QUOTE]

It seems like Disney is about $12 more per point than the resellers. So I guess thats a better way to go.

To compare the cost of adding on through Disney vs resale, in addition to the price/point and closing costs take into account the following:

- Dues: Disney pro-rates the dues from the date you get your points (usually ~24 hours after you pay your deposit). If it is late in the calendar year, you will pay very little dues your first year. Resale: the seller usually asks the buyer to reimburse all current-year dues but this is negotiable.

- Points: Disney gives you a full set of current Use Year points with your purchase and full points for all subsequent UYs and will usually allow you to bank those current points into your next UY even if you are past all of your banking deadlines. Resale: Your contract may be "loaded" with banked points, current UY points and all of the next UY's points intact or could be stripped of points: no banked or current points and next year's points were borrowed and used. So while resale may be $12/pt cheaper for the resort you are considering, look at each contract carefully to see exactly how many points you will get.

So just be sure you look at price, closing costs, dues and available points when you make the comparison. In some cases resale will be better and in other cases buying from Disney might be a better deal.

So if i was to do a 25pt add on at BC now, would i get 06 pts. My current UY is Septenber.
Disney gives you current-UY points with your purchase. If you purchase an add-on prior to Sep 1, you would get '06UY points with your purchase. If you purchase on/after Sep 1st, your first set of points would be '07UY points.

I do recall this regading getting '06 UY points... Question is, can they be banked completely even if you're past the 50% milestone??

Yes many people have reported being able to bank the points right away, even though it was late in their UY.

Because I'm considering an Add-On and if the incentive price per point is good at SSR, I was considering purchasing ther e(home resort means little to me). I'm a MArch UY and was curious if I bought in the coming days if I would get some allocation of the 2006 points...

Since you have just over 2 weeks left in your UY, you should verify with your guide that you will be allowed to bank the '06 points. They have been really good about letting people do this even late in their UY, but you aren't just late in your UY, you are right at the end so I'm just not sure.

To be honest if I can or can't it's not a HUGE deal... If I can't I'll gladly take AKL then to be a founder...
