I had to go back and find this from another thread. This is an example of an individual who didn't have a clear understanding of the true situation and made kind of a turkey of himself
A mug story:
During our first trip ever to WDW, we started our trip at GF and bought an Alice in Wonderland refillable mug. When I bought the mug, I asked the CM "we are only staying here until tomorrow, and then we're transferring over to the Wilderness Lodge. Can we still use the mug there?" The CM said yes, so I bought it. When we transferred to WL (in concierge) I asked them again about the mug I'd bought the previous day at GF, and they said I could refill it at Roaring Forks. So during an afternoon by the pool, I took my mug and filled it w/ diet coke, and when I was walking out, a very drunk man hollared at me, "Hey! We paid for our vacation!!!" I had no idea what he was talking about, so he continued, "I thought you were supposed to get the WL mug but I guess people are using any old mug!" and I replied, "We just transferred over from the Grand Floridian and they said we could use it here!" and he said, "Well, they never told me that." and I said, "Well, you didn't transfer over from there." And...he walked the other way.
He'd had just a few toooo many...luckily there aren't refillable beer mugs or we'd be seeing a lot more outbursts like that!!
Honestly, I always buy new mugs every trip because I like them as souvenirs. Our whole cupboard is filled with all the different kinds and I drink my coffee from them (got my AKL mug right here next to my computer).
I think if you're told it's okay by a CM to use for a whole trip when you switch resorts or something, or else if you've been told you can use it forever, that's okay. I think what others are responding to (and hopefully w/ more class than the drunk fellow

) is when it looks like people are taking advantage of Disney's method of policy enforcement, which in this case, is based on an extension of good will. Someone filling up a bread bag full of slush is one example
I don't worry about what others are doing too much when I'm on vacation, so I don't really notice it. I'm too caught up in my gorgeous deluxe hotel stay
