Please don't take this the wrong way, I'm just curious, but if Disney doesn't care, why are you obsessing about this on your vacation? It's Disney's game and Disney's ball. They don't care. So I don't care. As long as you feel you're doing the right thing, relax and enjoy your well deserved vacation!
::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

As for blizzard Beach, it doesn't matter what cup you use. You may either purchase their cup or bring your own. If you bring your own, you just have to pay for the refill sticker with barcode. The barcode only works on the day of purchase. So I wouldn't get out of shape if someone had an old cup. If they were getting refills, they had to have a new barcode. Paying for just the refill barcode is quite a bit less than buying their refill cup with barcode!

++++ ATTENTION ++++

To try an clear the air about the Disney mugs I have sent a request to Disney customer service regarding the "rules" about the mug use. I will post the reply in this thread when I hear back from them. Till then lets just wait for the correct answer before we go nuts.

They don't enforce smoking. That I consider more serious than mug refills.

On the contrary, they do enforce smoking as efficiently as possible. I have seen them. many many times. But the parks are huge and guests out number CM's by very large amounts. I think that everyone needs to relax and stop worrying about what everyone else is doing and enjoy their OWN vacations. Smile! It’s the happiest place on earth!

By the way, if this is a complain thread, then I have to add line Jumpers to the list... That is probably my biggest Disney Pet Peeve. But I just let it go... princess:

in jan 1996, i stayed at asm & was told by the cm to get the mug bc i could use it forever...so i kept it for what seemed like forever...we didn't go back to the world until 2003.........and i found out on these boards b4 our trip that i shouldn't use them...well...i didn't bring them...but i think i could of since i bought them under the pretense that they could be used forever.
i also got one at akl in 2004...but i was told it was for that trip only...so, there 's a difference.

What I always find amusing about the mug abuse and pool hopping threads is this.

It's wrong for it to bother some of us, to the point of being called names. But it's ok for it to bother some that it's even discussed, or that some are against it.

What's the difference in getting upset over the action versus the discussion of the action? :confused3

MouseMan, at the risk of going nuts, I think we all concede that the current mug policy is that they are to be used for the length of stay only. The point of contention is should we, as resort guests, take it upon ourselves to worry about those who re-use the mugs if Disney doesn't seem to worry about this?

Sammie:

Don't get your point. Who's upset about discussing this? I must have missed that post.

We have bought refillable mugs at ASsports and Contemporary resorts. We have never taken them back on any other trips to use but it doesnt bother me if someone else does. Im there on vacation to have a good time not to police the place.

This is all so crazy!!! All over using previous mugs?!? But anyways, I am jumping aboard to find out what the ruling is from customer service...LOL...some people... :rotfl:

Bingo...We have a winner!

Not that I really truly care what other guests do at the refill counter (I answer to my conscience, but I DO understand pet peeves!! ,lol) ...

Is it possible that WDW changed their policy at some point? Seems like many people on here who thought they could re-use old mugs bought theirs 2001/2002. I went to ASMo in 2001 w/ dd#1. We were going to only buy one refillable mug (she drinks water, mostly, while I survive on caffeine). BUT we were assured by the CM who checked us in AND the CM at the food court that these had no year on them because they were good for ALL future visits to the resort. I understood that it was a marketing ploy -- it was worth it to WDW to get you back to that resort, even if it meant free beverages again!

Until this board, I had saved these mugs very carefully...my dd's is still new! We saved them for a future trip, which we are taking next month. So if people think the mugs were for any future trips as well, perhaps the policy when THEY bought their mugs was for all future visits! In which case they may be grandfathered in. Just a thought!!

They were using the Blizzard Beach cups at Pop not at Blizzard Beach.

:rotfl: I had to go back and find this from another thread. This is an example of an individual who didn't have a clear understanding of the true situation and made kind of a turkey of himself :)

A mug story:
During our first trip ever to WDW, we started our trip at GF and bought an Alice in Wonderland refillable mug. When I bought the mug, I asked the CM "we are only staying here until tomorrow, and then we're transferring over to the Wilderness Lodge. Can we still use the mug there?" The CM said yes, so I bought it. When we transferred to WL (in concierge) I asked them again about the mug I'd bought the previous day at GF, and they said I could refill it at Roaring Forks. So during an afternoon by the pool, I took my mug and filled it w/ diet coke, and when I was walking out, a very drunk man hollared at me, "Hey! We paid for our vacation!!!" I had no idea what he was talking about, so he continued, "I thought you were supposed to get the WL mug but I guess people are using any old mug!" and I replied, "We just transferred over from the Grand Floridian and they said we could use it here!" and he said, "Well, they never told me that." and I said, "Well, you didn't transfer over from there." And...he walked the other way.

He'd had just a few toooo many...luckily there aren't refillable beer mugs or we'd be seeing a lot more outbursts like that!!

:rotfl2:

Honestly, I always buy new mugs every trip because I like them as souvenirs. Our whole cupboard is filled with all the different kinds and I drink my coffee from them (got my AKL mug right here next to my computer).
I think if you're told it's okay by a CM to use for a whole trip when you switch resorts or something, or else if you've been told you can use it forever, that's okay. I think what others are responding to (and hopefully w/ more class than the drunk fellow ;) ) is when it looks like people are taking advantage of Disney's method of policy enforcement, which in this case, is based on an extension of good will. Someone filling up a bread bag full of slush is one example :rotfl:
I don't worry about what others are doing too much when I'm on vacation, so I don't really notice it. I'm too caught up in my gorgeous deluxe hotel stay

I just found this on allearsnet.com :
Most of the WDW Resorts have a "Refillable Mug" program in their food court area (aka Fast Food-Counter Service). You purchase a mug for around $11.99 and are entitled to "free" or less expensive refills for the duration of your stay. The refills are available from the beverage dispensers and usually include: coffee, sodas, ice tea, and hot chocolate. No other purchase is required to get your mug or your refills.
The mugs have the hotel logo on them and signs state that they are for use at that hotel for the duration of your visit.

For an avid coffee or soda drinker, especially with the 'free' refills,
you can't beat it.

So there ya go. I guess :earseek:
http://allearsnet.com/din/mugs.htm check it out for yourselves

been there many time and have bought mugs from most of the allstar resort and never found we could not use them on our next trip wow what a bargain

Every trip, we stay on site and we purchase the refillable mugs. Our last trip in 2003 we Stayed at the Y&BC and thought along those same lines. So I inquired with a CM who told me that the mugs can be used everytime forever at that resort. Not just the current visits but forever. I was a bit surprised that the CM told me that (knowing Disney's history of squezzing dollars out of you) I guess what would bother me is the lending of mugs to friends who are staying at a site you previously did and using your mugs...............hmmmm......I do have quite o few of them.....maybe I find a new enterprising venture!!! :)

Have a magical day,

Andy

I agree with another poster. If they don't want you to use the old mugs then make different ones each year. I guess no one would know unless you were using an old style or at another resort.

I know this...I didn't buy my DDs mugs because they were using a sippy cup and I asked the CM if I could refill their cups at the station. I have asked each and every time and each CM has said it was okay. Look at it this way...what's the difference between filling their cups up at the station or me filling my mug up then pouring it into their cups and then refilling mine again?

So slam me if you will, but if we decide to do a split stay with the ASMO and GF I will be bringing my mug from last year to the ASMO.

I was at Disney this past December, we were in the Restaurant at Fort Wilderness and honestly the name escapes me right now. The cashier asked if I wanted a mug to purchase drinks. I told her no thank you. She said They are good forever

I still declined because I was not staying at that resort.

So there are some CMs still giving out incorrect information.

I was under the impression that fountain soda is pennies per cup. Another post said that WDW doesn't even pay for the syrup that it is donated by Coke for the advetisement or whatever. That could be why Disney doesn't really take a pro-active stance in the soda thing. It would probably cost them much more in payroll to have CM's at every soda station as long as the food courts are open than they actually lose on people filling up "illegally" plus I'm sure all the complaints they would get would be nuts. If they were really concerned about it, they would install the barcode thingy's at every food court. That money would surely be passed on to the guests in the way of higher prices & less discounts, etc. Also let's not forget about coffee, etc which is also included in the mug purchase.

It doesn't bother me one way or the other. My husband is a police officer and vacations are special and much needed. I have more important things to worry myself about than whether Tommy the Tourist is using an unathorized mug or not. I just do the right thing and call it a very magical WDW day!!

Elise

We'll be bringing back 2 of our WL mugs this Aug. They were bought before Disney started putting dates on the mugs.
I will be buying 2 Pop mugs and 2 BCV mugs while there.
