Im wondering if the pressed penny things will press canadian pennies?
I'm assuming i need american quarters, but i don't know if canadian pennies are the same size? also, does someone have a picture of the pennies after they're pressed? doesn't matter what character, just want to see if its something i'd be interested in doing.
thanks!

Check out www.presscoins.com. It lists all the pressed coin machines at WDW with lots of pictures. I am not sure about Canadian pennies, maybe he mentions it there. My daughter printed out his list and picked ones she wanted and made it her mission to find them.

Anything that is not like a regular American penny after WWII can potentially come out weird/break the machine. Yes, personal experience talking. Since they are so cheap;), I would just go with getting pennies while you're in the states/in the park. If you are serious about them, then that's when you start worrying about press dates and cleanliness, but since it sounds like you've never tried them, I'd just pick out the cleanest ones you get back as change and use those. Good luck!

i've read multiple times that canadian coins won't work

Hey, thanks for the link! I will have to print out the location list for my son. He was crazy about the pressed pennies last trip and they made a great distraction for him.

The pressed penny machines work with Canadian pennies.
We put in a penny thinking that it was an american one and when it came out we realized it was Canadian. We just did this last week so hopefully they haven't changed the machines!:lmao:

Canadian pennies work, just not nearly as well. Because the CDN pennies are harder they don't stretch as well and look a little misshaped. Any cashier will give you pennies for change.

I LOVE pressing pennies! This is the only souvie we get!! When I first did ToT (see the youtube link in my sig :rotfl2:) I actually go up to a pressed quarter machine and get my celebratory souvie!!! I still have it on my desk- the day I rode ToT... oh what a day. :scared1:

I am on a very serious mission:cool2: for our next vacation to get as many designs as possible.
So.. Ive read that the best pennies are 1982 or earlier. I have 200 of them!

My question is, If I clean them with the vinegar and salt mixture will it cause the pennies not to press correctly?:confused3

Before 1982 they didn't have so much zinc in them - newer pennies will end up with some silver color in the design, but older pennies will hold their copper color with no streaks. Cleaning beforehand is totally fine - you'll wash off the mixture anyway, so it's not any different than a normal penny. Most pennies go through worse I imagine before they make it to the machines! I cleaned mine before doing the 50 at DL for the 50th, and they looked great!:thumbsup2
