Pressed pennies help??!!!

DD12 started doing pressed pennies everywhere we went when she was around 5. She loves them, asks for rolls of quarters and pennies every year for Christmas, and studies the lists and maps for our trips to Disney figuring out what she has vs what she wants to get on that trip. Everywhere we go, she has her change purse so if she runs across a machine at a museum or whatever she can add to her collection. I need to get her another book to store them in because she has a book and a mentos container filled. It is a great collectable for kids.

I've collected pressed pennies for years all over the US. Cheap, fun souvenirs! Just a note to anyone who uses the mini M&M containers to store their coins - we did that last year and had them packed in a carryon on the way to WDW. It caused all sorts of commotion when we were going through security because they could see solid tubes on the xray machine. Had to get our bags searched and it was the coins in the tubes causing the concern. Needless to say, I will be taking the tubes again because it was so handy in the parks, but I will be putting the coins in a ziplock until we get to our hotel

Same thing happened to us! Took us forever to get through security. They scanned our bag, re-scanned it, did a manual search and then rescanned the pennies in the tube.

I always put the pennies in the M&M tubes but take them out of my carry on and put them in the tray to go through X-ray.

I LOVE pressed pennies.

You might want to establish a theme and only get ones that fit that theme (rides you rode, favorite character, etc), or a number per day though- because the machines are EVERYWHERE and it is easy to spend a lot on them!

I wish I had known the 2 quarters, 1 penny, 2 quarters, 1 penny in an M&M tube trick. What a great way to stay organized!
