Oh, it's not this one situation. Something went crazy around the time of the Pandemic and a little before. The place no longer feels safe for anyone anymore (not Disney but the rest of the state). They never have been very welcoming outside of the parks even though their livelihood was dependant on the tourist business. One cop in Miami decided to be a jackwagon and arrest someone. I hope he sues and wins for a false arrest. But this is far from a systemic issue and certainly not something I'm going to be concerned about when I get to Orlando in two weeks.
I think this type of comment belongs in the controversial board....Oh, it's not this one situation. Something went crazy around the time of the Pandemic and a little before. I never drove down there from Vermont just to go to Disney. I loved to explore using Kissimmee as my base I went north, east, south and west of central Florida. I loved it's charm, orange groves, live oaks covered with spanish moss, the beaches, the palm trees. Just about everything about it. I drove down to Key West and stopped more then I drove because I was so fascinated by the wildlife and the blue/green colors of the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico. Now I fear going anyplace in the state simply because I don't think it is a safe place to be and the collective hate that has resonated there is something that I cannot tolerate. Obviously, that is just me because others flock there and I know that my boycott will mean nothing individually, just like that one incident, by itself, means nothing it is the incident after incident that adds up to something I cannot support.
Arresting people for this nonsense shouldn't be controversial. The government officials are completely out of control and need to be stopped. Just like on the other extreme in some states like mine where deranged dangerous people are arrested for serious offenses 15 times and constantly released.I think this type of comment belongs in the controversial board....
It's not controversial, it is my personal opinion. I didn't ask for anyone to agree or disagree. I just stated how I felt about how I perceive the current situation. However, that said, I really don't mind if someone says it's controversial. It's just there for thought. I might be wrong or I might be right. It's all in how we perceive things. This is, after all, social media and this was a social comment. Everyone is welcome to state their own feeling about it.I think this type of comment belongs in the controversial board....

I'm sorry you feel that way. I spend between two and four weeks a year in Central Florida in Orlando, Viera and Melbourne. I've never felt unsafe or unwelcome there. I head down in a week and a half, come home for four days and turn around and go right back.Oh, it's not this one situation. Something went crazy around the time of the Pandemic and a little before.
