Are there still pressed penny machines throughout the park? Do they still sell the penny books? Is there a map of locations? We have not done in years and are taking a nephew with us on this visit who might enjoy collecting.

Yes they do. They also have pressed quarters around the parks! Pinterest has a lot of good posts about it!

Disney hasn't published a list of them, but if you Google around there are fan sites which have lists of the locations.

You can get the pressed coin books at many gift shops, particularly World of Disney at Disney Springs and at many of the hotels. They are $8.95. Here are a couple of sites with locations. I used the first one more, but I would take a look at both. It's not as accurate as I would like for DHS and AK due to construction. If there is anything in particular that you are looking for from these sites, I may know if the site listed is correct. We just went about 2 weeks ago and spent $40 in quarters on pressed pennies, dimes, and quarters.

Great links. Thank you

DH is an avid collector of the pressed pennies. Presscoins.com has the most accurate information. Ii They have lists laid out in different ways as well a new coins blog that covers the changes since their last list update. The lists are pdf files so you can print them out. We take notes about the changes or even print out the changes from their blog before we go.
Penny collector.com doesn't seem to be as up to date. Coin designs and machine locations do change during the year.
There are over 500 pressed penny designs alone. We don't use the coin books that are sold at Disney. They don't hold very many pressed pennies. We found a site that sells the folders for elongated coins that are just like coin collectors use. We also got the 3 ring binder inserts that hold those 2X2 coin folders and a 3 ring binder.

As an alternative to the pressed penny books my kids put theirs in little bags while there and then we framed them when we got home. They would never look at them in a book but hanging on their walls they make a nice little conversation piece

**edited to add** we're not hard core collectors so I'm not sure if this is a "proper" way to store them. They just like to do it.

I'd love to see a picture of how you have them displayed in frames!

I tried to get a picture buy the lighting here today is awful and not conducive to getting a good shot. I used black 12x12 frames because that's what I had. I used spray adhesive to attach felt to the frame backing and glued the pennies to that using hot glue, it peels off if you ever wanted it to. The felt is all bright colors and the pennies really pop on it. We don't just have our Disney ones in the frame. We have them from all of our vacations

Very cool! I would not have thought of that--love it!

However you want to store/display them is the proper way. We are not hard core collectors technically either. We don't everything at a machine or even from every machine we see. We only get ones that we like, for rides that we like, or specific areas of a park. It's more of a souvenir for us than a collection.

The Creative DISigns board here taught me that a mini M&Ms tube is just the right size for your penny machine money. Stack it 2 quarters, Penny, 2 quarters, Penny . . . And you're always ready to go. A Mentos gum container is oval and he perfect size for the finished penny. If you're feeling crafty, the designers on the Creative DISigns board will customize a design for you (I.e. a favorite character with your name or initials in it) in just the right size to put personalized labels on your quarter and penny tubes. Super fun souvenir and activity in one!

There is also one FREE Pressed Penny at WDW.:)

It is part of one of the France Missions in Agent P's World Showcase Adventure and can't be obtained any other way.

It is in a Machine that shows 2 "regular" pennies available, but a CM gives you a Penny as part of the Mission and you insert it into the Machine and "activate" the Machine with your "FONE" and the Machine starts operating without any quarters being inserted and the unique Agent P Penny is pressed.

It's really cool.:)

pressed pennies are a huge tradition in our family. It was great on our last trip because my 2 year got more excited over pennies then he did all the souvenir shops! they are EVERYWHERE! and some of the best ones are in the resorts so keep your eyes peeled .
Every trip I take all the pennies we get as well as any other small trinkets from the trip and put them in a shadow box from the trip. i love actually having these things on display instead of lost in a box somewhere.

Rookie here: I see that there are 3-4 designs per machine, do you get to choose them?

We came back last week and DD was collecting pennies. When we were there, the books were very hard to find, Mouse Gear in Epcot said they hadn't had them in months, we bought one in MK, but no luck trying to find another a few days later. If you think you will need more than one book, buy two if you can, you can always return one if you don't need it. Love the ideas for displaying pennies in a frame though very cool! Good luck!

I got some a couple of weeks ago at the Caribbean Beach Resort gift shop. Last year, they had them at World of Disney and the POR gift shop. I didn't check those places this year. I thought I looked at the Contemporary too, but I don't think I found them. For those that collect at Universal, they sell their own book too. I have not looked or bought it though.
