Hi everyone,
It's a long time since I posted on here... been a stressful few months since the summer, with medical treatment and now a baby on the way... woohoo!

Anyway one of my friends is due at the beginning of Feb and I asked her yesterday if she would like me to organise a baby shower. She said that she'd prefer it to be a girlie 'pampering evening' (not with nappies-LOL), and that she didn't want people to think they had to bring a present.

So I've been thinking... maybe I could ask those coming to give £2 or so and then I could put together a little gift hamper for her. I don't mean baby things, rather something nice for mum!

Does anyone have any suggestions about what I could put in it? Anyone who's had a baby and thought 'Ooh I could just do with...'? (other than more sleep of course - which is hard to wrap!)

Thanks for your help :goodvibes

That sounds lovely. I have to say I loved to have a relaxing bath with some lovely smellies in it. How about buying some lush products, manicure vouchers, spray tan etc. Things that you spoil yourself on. I know when I had my children it was horrible, because you didnt have either time or products to pamper yourself. If you could arrange something like that a baby sitter and for your friend to have a day of pampering??

I bought a cheap mp3 player for a friend and loaded it with favourite music, so she could listen to it while up doing night feeds and out walking with the baby

What about some lovely new pyjamas - half the price at the moment.

Cosy socks for keeping your feet warm in labour.

I loved lavender essential oil - midwife recommended it to drop in a bath as it relaxes you and if things are a bit troubled down below after the birth it helps with healing :rolleyes1

Some lovely hand cream etc as your hands are never out of water

I am sure any girlie things would be appreciated :)

what about a magazine subsciption :)

Congratulations on your pregnancy

Hi everyone, thanks for some fab ideas, and the congratulations! I shall definately use some of the ideas!

Congratulations to you!!!

Carol's idea is fab :) How about a journal?

Something my friends did for my 17th birthday was a message book. I was a bit down at the time, and one of my friends got all the people I cared about to write me a message (it didn't have to be birthday related) and it arrived on my doorstep on the day of my birthday. She had just printed it off herself using a few photos from times we had all met up, and then tied it with a beautiful ribbon. It's something extra you can do without it costing much and when she's a bit fed up of slogging it out day and night as a mum, she can read it and know that there are people there for her.

Congrats on your news

I had a nice maternity set from Neal's Yard when I was pregnant with DD (it was from one of my suplliers and they got me the matching set for the baby)

It had bubble bath, massage oil in etc

Hi :flower3:
My friends has just had her third girl :scared1: (two's enough for me)
After she had her second I bought her some Clarins bath products (expensive, I know but it was a real treat).
This time around I bought her a new firming tummy cream that's quite sought after at the mo "fat girl slim" - I haven't used it but it helps with dimpling and stretch marks apparently. Getting rave reviews
Shes a good friend and wasn't at all offended by the idea - I knew her Mum had bought her a tummy firming product before.....
