Thinking of bringing some packets of instant oatmeal as well as grits...
Would this be possible to do and prepare them?
How would I get the hot water, or microwave?
Can I buy toast al la carte?

How do you save money on breakfast food?

I have run water through the coffee pot. Microwaves and toasters are available at the food court.

Other items are granola bars, trail mix, dried fruit, crackers and peanut butter, and bagels. There is butter and margarine available at beverage stations.

When we stayed at POFQ, we would order a big plate of Beignets and share them. Back then, they gave 2 snack credits per day, so we would use a snack credit for a plate of 6. Not sure if they will still give 6 for a snack credit, though. I've been seeing 3 as a snack credit on the menus posted different places. We didn't do this every morning, though. I've been thinking along the same lines you have. We're doing LM rooms at AoA druing FD. I'm planning on picking up a few things at the store to have in our rooms for breakfast. Maybe even a loaf of bread (we have 7 kids and can go through a whole loaf pretty quickly;)). We could easily bring that to the food court and toast it. Maybe even breakfast stuff that we can keep in the mini fridge and then heat/toast at the food court. Oatmeal is a great idea. I will probably do that for myself. Hot water from the food court. My plan is that if/when we do eat at the food court for breakfast, we'll bring whatever is necessary to the food court w/ our mugs, eat, then dh can bring the mugs back to the room while we take a bathroom break and wait for the bus. Maybe. We'll see! I've also thought about using a couple of snack credits here and there for a few cinnamon rolls and splitting those. Just trying to think of how to break up our breakfast plans so that we're not eating a breakfast bar or pop tart (bleh!) every morning.

When we have stayed at POR, we brought oatmeal, bagels and muffins from home and it was so easy. We used coffee cups in the room for the oatmeal, then took the oatmeal, bagels or muffins to food court to toast or microwave. They have butter and cream cheese on hand and you can just help yourself. Everything you need is in the public / drink area of the food court.

I usually bring fruit cups in my luggage. I just double ziploc bag them. If it's just me I only bring one package of 4 - if it's the kids and I, I'll bring 2 package of 4. That way we have some sort of fruit.

The one and only time I tried to make hot water using a coffee pot at POR it was nasty. It smelled and tasted like coffee so I just got my hot water in the food court.

We ship down a bunch of stuff (shipping is really cheap.... :rolleyes1 ).

I ship bowls, spoons, 2-4 boxes of cereal, pop tarts & I think that is it for breakfast. I buy milk at the resort for the cereal.

We fly so I have been known to bring bagels or some fruit with me as well.

We brought cereal and plastic bowls/spoons in our luggage. Each morning my DH would go buy milk in the food court since he was always up early. Made for an easy, fast and cheap breakfast.

Holy smokes.... THIS is great news! Now to make a shopping list on what to pack in the luggage! (Southwest = no baggage fees!)

We drive so it's easy to bring what we want. We don't ever eat breakfast in the foodcourts, too crowded!!!!!

I bring cereal bars, fresh fruit, granola bars, trail mix, dry cereal, anything that doesn't need to be prepared. I sometimes bring pop tarts and the kids eat them without toasting. When we arrive I usually head to the foodcourt and purchase a half gallon of milk, or several single serving bottles of milk and juice. The foodcourts also sell several "ready to eat" items that can be used as breakfast. We once purchased a small box of assorted donuts using a snack credit that we had for breakfast a morning or two.

For us it saves both time and money to just have a quick breakfast in the room. We can eat breakfast while getting ready for our day. We have a hard enough time getting out the room and to the parks in time. Can't imagine having to deal with the foodcourts in the morning. We do usually schedule one character breakfast per trip so we can get in one hot breakfast.

I would hope someone would buy something at the food court before they just helped themselves to butter, cream cheese, or whatever. They are there for the people who purchase bagels or toast to have. There is being frugal and being tacky. Kind of tacky to just take a handful of stuff from the food court if you don't buy anything at all, imho.
