Premier Passport cost including tax

I am trying to find the cost of the PPP including tax. I know the initial cost is $1099, but what is the tax rate.... or is the tax included in DL.
We are travelling to Disneyland for three days and then flying to WDW for a week..... but we are staying off site. We will have 3 free,3 day hoppers that we will upgrade. With the 20% dining discount at WDW,15% at DL, and the parking, the cost is getting close. I would probably go to DL again the following year before they expire.

Total cost is $1,134.72 inc tax. Since you mentioned you have free tickets, make sure they can be upgraded because some free tickets cannot.

Also, while at DisneyLAND, the dining discount applies to most places, but at DW it is far more limited. You can, however, purchase the Tables in Wonderland card as an AP holder which will give a 20% discount at most table service restaurants and a few counter services on food and beverages, including alcoholic beverages.

I did not receive a 20% discount anywhere at WDW (visit was last month). AP discounts at WDW are quite minimal, but much more widespread at DLR.

Yes, it does say that you can save up to 20%, but in most cases the discount is far less or not applicable. The only places that offered a 20% discount are at DTD (HOB, Fulton's, Portobello's) and only during lunch. If you read the page you linked, you'll find that the AP dining discounts at WDW are much more limited (e.g., only valid at a handful of TS locations at specific days/times). Also, there is no discount at QS locations in WDW.

Compared to DLR, yes. But if you use the AP for discounted repeat visits, as I do, and have the other discounts be pure extras (knowing that they can disappear on a whim), it still feels OK. Of course, we also own DVC and sometimes get the Tables in Wonderland card if it works for us that year, so we have other options. Easy for me to say, I suppose.

ETA...I have yet to get the Premier AP to work for us financially. Even just looking at travel plans it doesn't work, and since we aren't huge souvenir people, the discounts just don't add up enough.

We bought out AP's last time because we like to spend about 10 days in DL. It's not for everyone but we love to just wander. I am sure we would squeeze in an extra trip before they expired., and since it typically costs about $1500 to fly down we stay longer than 5 days.

OP: I wasn't clear if your 3 day ticket was for DL or WDW. If for WDW, you need to upgrade it at DL --which may not be possible if it is a complimentary ticket-- to purchase the Premier AP. You cannot combine a DL ticket with a WDW ticket to purchase a Premier. -- Suzanne

It is a ticket from a rewards program and has the same value as a hopper. We have upgraded them to DL AP's before. They would be for DL, so I cannot upgrade then to premier passport?

I would think that as long as the tickets can be upgraded to a DL AP, then you'll be okay upgrading them to a Premier AP at DLR. The problem is that folks sometimes try to upgrade WDW tickets at DLR, which does not always work (or work smoothly). So, as long as the tickets are valid for upgrading at DLR, you should be okay upgrading them.

Staying off site you would be able to book FastPass+ 30 days in advance, but only if you have WDW tickets. Perhaps not a deal breaker, but certainly a disadvantage to your plan of upgrading while at DLR.

I am not too concerned about the fp+. We are travelling at what I hope is a very slow time of year and I will use my DAS for the busy rides. I also have to figure in the cost of parking and the magic bands which would be free. So disappointed about the dining discounts. We spend at least $100a day on food so that would be an extra $20 in my pocket.

Looks like this is planned for February, 2016. February has been getting busier with many school districts taking a full week off for Presidents' Week, Mardi Gras (lots of folks from NO go to DW), and the Princess Half Marathon scheduled for Feb 18-21.

As far as dining discounts at DW, I've never counted on them as a major perk. They are very limited - most are 10%, many only at lunch on weekdays and some are for only the entree and not the total meal.

We will be in DL over the President's day weekend, but we have done that before. WDW will be from the 18-28. Thanks for the heads up about the marathon. We will do Universal that weekend.

Definitely get a Premier AP before you leave DLR. I know 2 people who took a DLR AP to WDW and they had to wait for the ticket booths in Anaheim to open so WDW could call to verify the AP. You should probably link the AP to your WDW reservation once you get it to try to avoid any entry problems your first day in WDW.
