The pregnancy thread brought to mind my pregnancies.

I decided to wait both times and be surprised.
Anyone else, or do/did you prefer to find out the gender ahead of time?

P.S. 1)As you can see below--2 DS's
P.S. 2)The question I hated= no I am not going to try for a girl!!:teeth:

By the third one I wanted to know and by the time we had our 5th, I kind of wanted to wait because I knew it would be our last. I still found out though-it was a girl and I had a blast buying pink!

I'm not good with surprises I had to know each time. I have 3 boys. They are each 2 yrs apart. Yes, after number 2 I was asked if we were trying for a girl. It didn't matter to me at all!

I have two DD and we didn't find out the gender for either. I also hated the question "When are you going to try for the boy?" Answer - NO

#1-Surprise, got DS. Wanted a boy first! :D
#2-Wanted to know, got DD. Thing is I wanted a girl SO bad that when I was told she was a girl, I did not believe them!:p I kept all the pink stuff in bags with receipts, just in case they were wrong! They were not! princess:

My wife wanted to know what our 2nd and 3rd were but I said no way no how I wanted it to be a suprise and she knew if she was to find out she wouldn't be able to keep it from me so she never found out. Every time after she says she is glad to have not found out but it still sdoesn't make it any easier for her curiosity while she is pregnant.

I wanted to know so I could be prepared clotheswise.:) And because I'd be too curious not to know.:teeth:

I have a dd and a ds. I've heard lots of people say "Well, atleast you got one of each so you wouldn't have try anymore to have one of one gender or the other." I tell those people it didn't matter to me if they were the same gender or not. I decided to have my tubes tied before I found out the gender of my 2nd baby.:p

With #1 we were surprised with a GIRL (DH's family had not had a girl born in 70 + years)

#2--Surpise a boy

#3 --through ultrasound we fund out we were having twins, so that was a big enough surprise--we found out ahead of time it was 2 boys.

#5 --I wanted to know for a bedroom stand point. Also, I was sure it was a Girl--I did not want to be disappointed in the delivery room. I was wrong--it's another boy. I am really glad that I know this ahead of time!!

Didn't find out with this pg. Wish sometimes I had, but only 4 more weeks...the surprise will be well worth it!!

I think it's a boy, though. Shhhh..

Suprise its a boy! both times for me, but I wasn't the slightest bit surprised. I knew in my heart that I was having a boy both times. Its what I wanted. I also hate the comment, "now its time to try for a girl!" and people who didn't believe me when I said I was perfectly thrilled with having two boys.

Some friends of ours asked to know about their second child. They were told it was a boy went out and got everything for a boy. Suprise they had a girl

I also knew both times. My first time, my mother was so sure I was going to have a tiny(like 6 lbs) little girl, she went out and bought pink newborn outfits.
When I called her at 4:30 a.m. and told her it was a 8lb9oz boy, she nearly had a heart attack!!

We didn't know w/ DD or DS and didn't want to know. My mom hated it b/c she didn't know. I had to keep reminding her whose children these were!!!

I did not want to know, though everyone from my husband, my family to my friends kept telling me I should find out. I held my ground and got to be surprised. For some reason I felt like I was having a boy through my whole pregnancy. I was almost shocked when the doctor said it's a girl. When I am ready to have my 2nd, I will not find out.

I *had* to know; I couldn't wait to find out!!!!!!!!! Both times, boys; and I also am SICK of "Are you going to try for a girl???" ARGH!

Not even pregnant, but...

With the first, I don't want to know. I like the idea of a surprise in the delivery room - plus, we only want gender neutral stuff anyway.

With the second, I do want to know. I've heard the second pregnancy is tougher to connect with the unborn baby because you're dealing with the other kid, so knowing who s/he is will help connect with him/her.

My Dh and I are completely the opposite. He asked if we were going to find out this timne and I said No. He was soooo annoyed.

We didn't find out the first time - I had a gut instinct it was a boy and I was right.

The second one, I did find out. And unlike Welovedisneyx's4 - my mom was really annoyed that we did find out. My reasoning was becaue I have a huge family and no one threw me a shower for my first. I wa determined to have one for my second. There were things I needed (especially if it was a girl) that I didnt have. It was a girl and we were sooo happy.

This one, again, I am not finding out. My DH got sooo frustrated I almost found out and then told him I knew and I wasnt telling. But that is a little too mean (even for me)LOL! The funny thing is with the other two..Iwas soo sure I knew what they were and was right. This one, I have no feeling one way or the other...so it will be a suprise.

How exciting - just a few more weeks! Congrats.

We did not want to know with #1 and #2 (both girls)
Found out with #3 Yep - gave in to the aren't you going to try for a boy thing and certainly glad we did now! (got our little guy)
#4 was a bit of a surprise - found out for space planning!

:faint:

My doctor knew, but I wouldn't let him tell me. I wanted to be surprised--I LOVE surprises. My sister's comment? "What a shocker--you've NEVER peeked at your Christmas presents either!"

We had a beautiful little girl--and deep down I knew that all along. My family swears I'm a little psychic. My niece was supposed to have a boy as her second child--she wanted a girl so badly. Before she was told the sex, I'd begun embroidering a baby blanket that was definitely girly and I refused to stop. For some reason, I was sure it was a girl. 5 months later, little Juliet joined us!
