Pregnant? Surpise or confirm gender

#1 DS Didn't find out.
#2 DD Did find out.
#3 DS Didn't find out.
#4 DS Did find out.

Guess I'm riding the fence on finding out!;)
RE: People's comments on "Are you trying for that boy/girl?" People just want to connect with you and your miracle, but their comments can be stupid sometimes. After #2 we got the comments, "Guess you don't need to have any more children, since you won the baby lotto." Geez.

Oh dear, that story about the husband being disappointed with the girl is very, very sad. I watch A Baby Story, too, and it seems that when one parents wants a specific gender and don't get it, they always come around and realize how fantastic it is to have a girl/boy.

Personally? I think I would want a girl because I have a better name picked out for a girl ;) However, I vacillate...every time I see that Daniel Radcliffe (kid who plays Harry Potter) doing an interview, I really want a son...he is just the sweetest, coolest kid on earth!

We have had this discussion many times in our home =)

I am of the feeling that there are VERY few surprises anymore.. .these days, we know what the sex is, when they'll be born, what their name is, etc etc and they're usually induced on a certain date so we already know their birthday!!!

So I want it to be a surprise. DH hates surprises, but we're still working on that =)

I want something to TELL people when I have him/her. It's always more exciting when there's a surprise involved!

Thank goodness we don't have to cross this bridge yet =)

Okay no where near having children yet,

but

when and if the time comes, I will HAVE TO KNOW as soon as it is possible! It would drive me insane if I didn't know!

:p

I found out with both of my DS's .. hate surprises and i just wanted to know. Dh didn't care either way.. As for the question.. was I going to try for a girl? i always answer NO way.. I am the perfect boy camping, soccer playing, bug loving MOM..
AMEN! Same here. I had to wait until I was 8mo's with my first for them to do an U/S and that was because of toxemia. I switched OBGYN's and with the second I knew when I was 5mo's. I wanted to know ahead so I could be prepared with clothes. I am a huge planner.

When we found out there were 3 that was about all the surprise I could take. I wanted to as prepared as possible. We were told all 3 boys so thats what we were ready for. The day of the delivery baby A comes out and they said baby A isnt a boy. We really thought they were kidding. My dh said to put her back because she wasnt finished. He told my Mil that he had a surprise and she said please dont tell me there were four. SO Andrew then became Kathryn Andrea

Didn't know with my first two (sons) but we did know what we were having the 3rd time around as I was having a lot of problems with my pregnancy and after several different ultrasounds, we decided what the heck.......another son!:D

I know a woman who has two boys. First pregnancy didn't matter what sex it was. Once she got preganant with baby #2, she secretly really wanted a girl. During the ultrasound she found out it was another boy and she cried and momped during that entire pregnancy because she wanted a girl! Of course the couple wants more children, but she's only having more because she wants a girl so badly. It'd serve them right to have all boys as far as I'm concerned!

As for my husband and I, we want to know right away what sex it is. It'll be fun during those nine months decorating the nursery, and picking out baby names! If you don't know the sex, then you have to pick out names for both girls and boys. I'd like to narrow it down. :D

I should add, with DS#1 DH did not want to know. As I said I my previous post, I HAD to know. So, he left the room at the end of both my ultrasounds and the tech told me. The first time was just a guess, she couldnt confirm, but the second time she was sure. I kept 1 bag of blue stuff in the closet in the nursery. DH knew not to go in that bag or he would find out what it was. Also, since he didnt want to know, I didnt want other people knowing before him so I had to lie to everyone and tell them the ultrasounds were inconclusive. When people later found out I knew all along they wanted to kill me. ;)

We definitely wanted to know. It made us more prepared, like did we want circumcision or not. Getting clothes etc was easier too, especially with our second DS. He got tons of hand-me-downs from his older brother.

I did not want to know. I wanted it to be a "surprise" ;)

People thought we knew but just would not tell them!

Towards the end of my pregnancy I just "felt" like I was carrying a boy....well, it was a boy ;)

This happened to me too. Oh you got a boy and a girl, perfect you don't have to have any more kids! Well, no one HAS to have more kids. So I just said, I am only 25, I want 7 I wont be done for another 10 years. People either say, "Oh my Gosh.." or "wow good luck."

I dont take offense, but it is annoying.

Both mine were surprises, although my doc was really good at telling the sex from the heartbeat & he was right both times.

2 boys & both had galloping horses heartbeats.

With #1 we didnt find out. I had a c-section and my DH watched the whole thing. When they pulled her out he started yelling its a boy, its a boy..... The anistiologist (sp) leaned down and said to me "He does know the difference right?" Well I couldnt see anything and DH was saying it was a boy, a few minutes later DH come over and says "Its a girl, It's a girl!!!!" I was so confused! I finally found out she was a girl!

With the next two I had to know. With #2 DD wanted a little sister and thats what she got. With #3 DD wanted a little brother and she got what she wanted again!

Before I got pregnant I always said that I would want to be surprised. Well...after I got pregnant I changed my mind. We just had to know!

Found out both times. I wanted the second one to be a surprise but DH wanted to know the gender. He won.

We didn't find out with either pregnancy. I kind of thought it was like opening your presents before Christmas morning.

First baby was a boy. Second baby was a girl.

Least favorite comment: Well, at least you have your girl now.

With our first child we found out he was a boy.
With our second we wanted to find out but she would NOT cooperate with us every time we tried to find out. My mom (has passed away) told me I was having a girl in my dream. :D

My parents were surprised with both my sister and I. Everyone kept telling her that she was going to have a boy, by the way her belly looked, but both times they were wrong. My mom was hoping for 2 girls, so she got what she wanted.

I don't plan on getting pregnant for awhile, but when I do, I definitely want it to be a surprise. I know I won't be able to buy clothes and paint the room and everything ahead of time, but that's one of the greatest surprises. My mom and I both have a feeling that my first child will be a boy, but I don't know why.

I have 2 girls and I also hate it when people ask me when I am going to try to have a boy. I tell people that when we want to have a third child it's going to be because we want a third child and not because I am trying for a boy.

To answer your question about finding out the sex, we did find out with both of our children. The way we viewed this is we would be surprised regardless when we found out so why not find out early???? This is such a personal preferance though and I think either way is quite rewarding.
