we just found out last weekend and i'm about 6 weeks along.
i know it's not the best time to visit the parks since they're packed with spring breakers right now, but we're moving away from southern california in a couple weeks, so this might be the last time we go to disneyland before our passes expire in june.
i know i'm going to have to stick to the mellow rides and i'm ok with that, but it's KILLING ME that thunder mountain has finally re-opened and i STILL can't ride it! i told my husband that i would just wrap my belly with some bubble wrap and ride it anyway, haha (i'm kidding. i'm not actually going to do that).
i know to drink lots of water and take lots of breaks and my husband suggested renting a wheel chair since i seem to be so tired all the time, so we may try that.
any other tips for me that i may not have thought of?

Just enjoy it :) I went when I was 30 weeks pregnant when we took our 17 mos old. I couldn't walk as fast or for as long but I kept up! Just took lots of breaks.

We went to Disneyland when I was just about 4-5 weeks pregnant. Just to be safe, I rode all the "kiddie" rides and avoided anything that was too jostling. We didn't want to push it, just in case. I think the most daring ride I rode was the Grizzly River Run. It was actually fun to ride a lot of the rides we used to skip, such as Casey Jr., Storybook Land, Dumbo, etc. Ride those kiddie rides, take in the sights and enjoy yourself! :thumbsup2

To be perfectly honest, if I were just barely pg, the only reason I wouldn't go on a ride is if it would make me queasy. Your baby is better protected in there then by bubble wrap! If I were to the point of showing, then I might scale back. Maybe just run it by your midwife or OB, see what they say.

Now, before you think me reckless, I understand the reasons people choose not to, and this is just *my opinion*. I have lost babies, so I can speak from that perspective. I'm not being flippant.

So, if you really want to do BTMR, then maybe research the reasons to not go on it. If they are later pregnancy concerns, then you can use that info to make your decision.

Congratulations on your new wee one!

Regarding BTMRR, the ride is so very smooth since the refurbishment. Maybe that would or could make a difference then?

I've done Disneyland pregnant. I was 9 weeks with my oldest. I had a lot of fun...took it easy, enjoyed the snacks and had a great time. Have fun!:wizard:

If you have no history of problems with keeping a baby I would go on everything. I have lost a baby before, but that was not caused by any jostling. I have been to DL many times pregnant (7 pregnancies, 6 births) at all stages and never limited my rides, but I don't have a problem carrying a child to full term, if I did I might think twice, but since I don't and didn't no big deal. The disclaimer put on rides for not going if pregnant is to protect them against lawsuits not because it's inherently dangerous. If you were to go on a ride them miscarry, you can't sue them because they posted not to go.

If you are healthy and especially active and don't have a history of miscarriage, I would go on everything. If you do have a history then the kiddie rides can be fun and magical.

i actually was wondering about grizzly river earlier today. it doesn't seem any worse than pirates, which doesn't have a warning and i was planning on riding, so i may do that one.

thanks. my husband said the same thing about the baby being pretty well protected in there. i've been doing lots of research about roller coasters during pregnancy and there's no proven research one way or another, it's more of a better safe than sorry thing, so i MAY consider give big thunder a try if i feel up to it. i've had a bit of a problem with queasyness (which i really think is just due to the anxiety of finding out i'm pregnant) but i'm hoping it doesn't decide to show up full force tomorrow. i was given anti-nausea meds by my doc, so i'm definitely going to take those just to ward off any tummy troubles.

i was wondering about that, so that's something to take into consideration, thanks!

this is my first pregnancy, so no history of miscarriages and no problems with this one so far. and my doctor said she saw no reason why i would have any real trouble carrying a baby to full term.

When I was pregnant, I always followed the better safe than sorry route. In the event that something happened, I wanted to know I did everything I could.
You can still have a great time at Disney riding the slower/safer rides. Some of the rides, if they breakdown mid ride, come to a very fast/abrupt stop. I don't think one day of fun would be worth it if something did go wrong as an effect.
Hope you guys have lots of fun! Congratulations on your baby!

I wouldn't go on anything my 19 month old can't. I wouldn't want something to happen and then regret that I cause it by a day of fun at Disneyland. Just my opinion.

i ended up staying off the roller coasters. i'm such a worry wart as it is and if something were to happen i would always wonder if it was something i did.
i kept telling my husband that he should do some of the big rides, but he didn't want to ride them without me.
so yeah, even though we had to skip some rides, we still had nice time. my husband had been wanting to have caricatures done for the longest time, so we finally got to do those. and we did a little bit of baby shopping too :)

Did you have a good time? I hope so!

When I was almost 34 weeks along I waddled my way through my company picnic at Disneyland. Heck, it was free, so I figured why not? I think I only went on it's a small world and Pirates but we watched the parades, enjoyed the scenery, and ate some good food.

Ironically, I had my daughter at 35 weeks. I keep saying it's because she heard the music on it's a small world and wanted to come out to see it for herself.

To be honest we went to Disney once back when we were trying to get pregnant (and if I had gotten pregnant I would have been 5 weeks and possibly to early to tell). I asked my doctor if I should skip rides just in case and he just laughed and said at that early in the game it would not affect anything. He told me that most people (who have surprises) don't even realize they are pregnant by then, but farther down the line it is best to adhere to the guidelines. You could ask your own doctor, or if you are very paranoid just skip them.

Have fun, and enjoy this last trip!

I took my niece to WDW last year when she was about 9 or 10 weeks along. I bought her some anti-nausea ginger gum and some Preggie Pops drops (found them at Babies 'R Us), and that helped her out quite a bit. The worst thing for her was getting tired & having to go back to the hotel to rest.
