Pre/Post NYC Hotel and transfers

Can anyone tell me about the pre/post night NYC hotels and the DCL transfer to port? Is it similar to staying at one of the WDW resorts or the Hyatt Orlando Airport and transfers to PC?

I am wondering if it is easier to travel to the NYC port this way vs the hassle of arranging car service to the port and back as I have heard some difficulties with passenger pick up on t he return.

I believe DCL did use a hotel or two in NYC that you could get transfers from and luggage service but you had to book it through DCL. DCL tends to charge more for a hotel than you could get it on your own but that could depend on several factors. If you stay on the West side of Manhattan near the terminal the walk to the port or a cab or uber is easy (only a few blocks).

This NYC planning thread from last year may have the hotels listed that DCL used in the past.
