Going in 9 days time!! :yay: However, been thinking of buying the "pre-booking seat option (£95 odd) for family of 4.

before I do - is it really worth it?, I mean, if we arrived at check-in in good time, (which we usually do) would all be fine?

Can't believe £95 to prebook seats, that is just crazy. Who is that with?
Must be one of the charters? We have been going for about 15 years always been free.
Do you have young children?
Personally I would rather run the risk of sitting seperate than pay £95.
Can't you checkin online day before?
Even our BMIbaby flights to Amsterdam last month at £35 each ticket was free online checkin and pick your own seats.
I guess you can tell I am shocked.
Good luck

Hi there,

who are you flying with?

We have never prebooked our seats and have always been sat together so I wouldn't bother. We always get to the airport early though so perhaps if you were late you would have a problem getting sat together.

Put the bad luck on myself now haven't I, I bet this year we all have to sit separate.

I have never prebooked seat and in about 15 holidays over the last 10 years have never had a problem, always arrived at airport early and had no problem........but I gave in today :rolleyes1

We are a family of 6 and after a lot of discussing decided today to prebook. We are going with Airtours and had to pay £24 per person :sad2: but it's done now. We could not risk being split on plane as kids would murder each other lol

I know a lot of airlines do not charge but unfortunatly we are limited in who we fly with as we live in Northern Ireland.

Flying with MyTravel (Airtours).

Im going to risk it and not pay :scared1: for pre-booking seats - just going to arrive early at airport and see what happens.

Thanks!

We went twice before with Airtours and did not prebook and arrived before the 3 hour checking , in fact first time was there about 4 hours before  just so excited lol and we got seats together. I was to scared this time as 3 kids have never been before and once scred of flying so could not take the chance.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

say hello to Mickey for me :mickeyjum

That is exactly what we have done. I always like to get to the airport in good time and usually get there 4 hours before, then have a leisurely breakfast. We have flown with Airtours 3 times now and have always sat together.

Just a small warning about this: Sometimes even getting there early doesn't mean you're guaranteed to sit together. We were one of the first in the queue at check-in in 2002 yet one of the last to actually check-in as there was a mess up with the lines and some opened much later so people who had just arrived checked in earlier  We were very lucky in that we got a free upgrade to Premiair gold but they could have just refunded our prebooked seats charge. The woman behind us was split from one of her kids (luckily she was with another adult and 2 kids so they seated them in 2 sets of 2) I know what happened to us may not be a regular occurence but just relaying my experience.

We flew with First Choice last year in Star Class Premier, one of the benefits of which was supposed to be guaranteed sitting together.

Fine on the outward journey from Manchester. But when we checked in for the return the agent just handed over the boarding cards without the usual thing of showing them to us, pointing out the seat numbers, gate and boarding time etc. As we turned away from the desk I realised we were seated in different rows, one behind the other. When we complained to the agent and pointed out we had paid to be sitting together, she insisted that sitting one behind the other was classed as sitting together!

This is the main reason we don't plan to fly First Choice again. We'll stick to American Airlines where we can choose our seat online when we book, and change it any time if one we prefer becomes available.
