Looking for suggestions in Waikiki for 2-3 nights prior to our 7/8 nights at Aulani. It will be me, my wife, 8 year old daughter, and almost 4 year old son.

I've narrowed it down to these 3 I think, and leaning more toward Outrigger or Hilton due to being on the beach.

Thoughts?

We are doing a similar trip in May with some days in Waikiki. We really like the Outrigger Waikiki. We stayed there about 15 years ago for the first time and really enjoyed it. So close to the beach, views are amazing, and the restaurants and other shopping in the area are easy to walk to. Enjoy your vacation- we can't wait for ours!!

For clarity's sake, the Outrigger Reef and the Outrigger Waikiki Beach are two different hotels.
They are not that far from each other but the Reef is on the slightly quieter end of Waikiki Beach by the park. The HHV is nice too, but huge and also at the edge of Waikiki.

You honestly cant go wrong with the Outrigger chain. As the above poster said there are two in Waikiki but both are beachfront. The Reef has a cool restaurant called the Shorebird which has some pretty good breakfast specials and a "grill your own" dinner concept. The beach in front of the Outrigger Reef can be a bit rocky but there are good sections within walking distance.

We have stayed the last two years at outrigger Waikiki beach before aulani

It's right in the centre on one side and right on the beach the other

The staff are lovely and I love the relaxed feel of the hotel

It has dukes restaurant there

We walked to the reef one night to take a look but preferred outrigger Waikiki beach

We've done outrigger Waikiki without kids, but with kids we go with Hilton Hawaiian village. We felt there was more for the kids to do with the multiple pools, water slide & lagoon, plus the beach. We always take a cab down to get lunch at dukes and then walk back. Happy planning!
