I looked and didn't see any other posts, sorry if I missed them.

I'm just sick watching the news from Enterprise, Alabama. Prayers are being said for everyone involved.

I'm also concerned for my nephew, he lives in Enterprise and works at the military base there. We haven't heard anything from him yet, but that is probably because of his job.

What happened?

ETA - Nevermind, I just saw the story on Yahoo.

Prayers for all those affected by the tornado's:grouphug:

My heart breaks for them... my Brother lives in AL.

We are in Montgomery, about an hour or so from Enterprise. The video they are showing is so terrible. As of right now there are eight confirmed deaths from Enterprise and another from Wilcox county. The ones from Enterprise are most likely from the high school, but it has not been reported yet if they are students or teachers. All we know is eight deaths. It has been a crazy day in the state.

They just came on and reported that four more deaths are confirmed in Wilcox county.

I hadn't heard about any of this..time to turn on some national news for a bit.

Prayers being sent out! We got the storms early this morning, tornado warnings but thankfully none touched down although we did have hail. It has been horrible in the South for the past week.

Prayers being said and I hope you hear from your nephew soon.

I am in Birmingham and my heart goes out to all the kids, parents, teachers and the families.
Thoughts and prayers to everone...not just in AL. but all those affected by the storms today.

I hope you hear from your nephew very soon. It is terrible what happened in Enterprise. My heart goes out to all the families.

We're in COlumbus GA, about 120 miles north of there. We used to live in Dothan, about 25 miles from Enterprise. Our hearts go out to them. We had a suspected tornado touch down a couple of miles from our house a little while ago, strange, we had very little disturbance other than some wind and rain, basketballs still on the base of our goal. Our brother in law just called lives about 5 miles away, he has a neighbors storage building in is back yard and their trampoline is down the street. Am hearing of cars flipped over but no deaths that we know of. Scary stuff!

A little while ago, the said there were 15 confirmed dead at the high school. Many parents have no idea where their children are because the roof of the school collapsed on them. I can't even imagine what it must be like.

We are under a tornado watch in the Orlando area until 2am. I'm sitting here worrying about DD in Tallahassee because the storms are much stronger to the north.

My sympathy and prayers go out to all of those affected by the storms today. I hope the storms die out soon and that no one else is harmed.

:sad1:

Yes it's been a real mess here today. A number of my customers that came in today, had family or friends who live down there and said it is awful. Especially the fatalites, and it's been climbing no less!:(

And, right now it doesn't sound so hot outside either. When we were picking up our daughter at my parent's house this evening, it literally sounded like those
eerie sounds in the movie Twister. Just like a big monster growling! Ewww.
And, of course the south part of our county has been hit today, not far from one of the areas hit back in the fall, when the tornadoes hit here (getting the daycare) My son's school was one of about four that were held back from going home because one tornado warning hit about four minutes before they let out. He got home finally about 4:45 today! I am glad that they weren't on the bus at least. Especially since their school was in line with that last twister that hit here.

My heart and prayers definitely go out to these families in Enterprise.

Gee, I don't know what it is with March around here. My sister's house was severely damaged in , March 6, '96when the tornadoes came through here then. (Had to rebuild it was so damaged of course) I know she wasn't happy today. Her house is near my son's school.;)

I'm in Cullman here. The pictures are just heart breaking! It seems the death toll is coming in with mixed reports. I've heard 13 dead in Enterprice and another 5 in Wilcox (WZZK is reporting that). At the news conferance they wouldn't confirm anything when asked.

It will be interesting to see just what warnings the school had and why they didn't go into their safety plan.

I saw this on CNN, it's heartbreaking!:sad1: :sad1: The live footage looks really bad. There is one thing I've learned from experiencing hurricanes, the pictures never show the true reality of the devastation. I'm sure it looks even worse in person. It's so sad. :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

My thoughts and prayers are with all those families and all AL residents affected by the tornadoes.

The pictures are devasting to see on TV, I feel so bad for everyone there and especially for the families waiting to hear about their children.

We haven't heard from my nephew yet, but I am going on the no news is good news theory. He is probably very busy with helping.

That's the thing. They actually let out early for the storms at 1:00 pm, and the tornado didn't hit until 1:30. But, apparently the kids wouldn't go home! And, I can imagine teens finding reasons to stay around, too.
But, of course our schools in town didn't do anything, about closing early. However, they did hold about four back from leaving when one warning hit about five minutes before school was due to end. My son't was one of course! I noticed that these were the schools that were in line with the last twister that hit here back in the fall too. They were remembering one twister at least.
