I'd like to request prayers for a co-worker of mine who is planning to sail Labor Day weekend and who really, really, really needs a vacation. Her youngest son has Batten's disease, a rare condition that causes blindness, brain deterioration, and eventually death. He is in his late teens and deteriorating fast (he has already lived longer than most kids with this disease). This poor woman is also taking care of her aunt, who is 94 years old. She planned the cruise as a high school graduation present for her older son, who has gone through some really rough years because of his brother's illness. They have been able to make arrangements for the younger son and aunt to be cared for, and this trip is really important because if there was ever a family who needed a vaction and some time to enjoy themselves, it is them!! She is the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back. She needs some time to be with her husand without any responsibilities, and her older son needs some time to just be a typical 18 year old. But the younger son has suddenly taken a turn for the worse. He has been completely blind for some time now, and his muscles have been deteriorating, but lately he has started to hallucinate and has not been eating and drinking. He is not always lucid anymore, and if he doesn't get better, she is afraid to leave him. Please remember this family in your prayers and ask that her son will stabilize so they can get in this well-deserved trip. Unfortunately, her life is only going to get rougher, as her son is in the end stage of the disease. But I really hope that she and her husband and her other boy will be able to have a good time as a family before they have to face that.

Wow, makes me realize how much I take our vacations for granted and serves as a reminder to be thankful for what you have. Please let us know how it turns out and I most certainly will keep them in my prayers.

Oh my, how sad :(

I hope and pray the son can hang in there while this family does get to go and have a well deserved break. I can't imagine what they must be going thru.
What a test....God Bless them ^i^

We had planned our family reunion cruise over a 2 yr period.
My dear Dad had cancer and as time progressed his health really detoriated. I had such mixed emotions. So happy about the cruise, yet worried if something happened while I was way, I would never forgive myself. He insisted our family go, have a good time and what would be, would be. As it turned out, he
passed in the middle of the night, a month after our cruise. :(

OH, how sad! I really do feel incredibly blessed. My thoughts and prayers will definitely be with all of them.

Will keep this family in our prayers, my mom is going through a similar situation with my step-father. My niece, who is staying with my mom, had to call 911 the other night while my mom was at work. My step-father had fallen out of bed, and my niece wasn't able to help him get up. The paramedics and police came and lifted him back into bed. My mom has my step-father scheduled to go into a nursing home for two weeks so that she can get away, and relax with us, on our cruise next month.

Very thoughtful of you to request prayer from all of us. GOD hears our prayers & the more people praying - the better! My husb. & I will definitely keep this entire family in our prayers. Please keep us posted. GOD Bless you & yours, also. cdo:D

Ohhhh my goodness!!! I will definately keep this family in my prayers.... Only makes me even more aware of just how incredibly blessed I am with my beautiful healthy son, and our upcoming cruise.

Also, Barb, as much as you have done to provide info and assistance to all of us 'new' Disney cruisers... Well, this is the least we can do in return!

Hello my friend,
I will make sure that extra prayers are said for this family - prayers do work - seen many miracles come from prayers -
If this couple do get to go, will you please call me at the shop?
know I love you and know that I care.
Always
Shirley

Heavenly Father I ask your blesssing over this family. I pray for a outpouring of your love and strength into their lives. I ask that these burdens of life be lifted from them, and that your Holy Spirit will lift them and guide them in their daily walk. I ask for a powerful healing in the body of this young man. Father you have made the blind see, and raised the dead into the living. I ask know that you pour your awsome strength in the fragile body of this young man. I pray for a powerful healing unto his life. I know Lord that you are a powerful and most mighty God, and through you ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. I pray that you will take away the pain that this family is feeling, replacing it with your strength and love. I pray this in your Holy name. AMEN

Very nice prayer, and I would like to add an AMEN to that prayer as well!!!

Once you have read the above prayer, I ask that you repeat it out loud in praise to the Lord. If you have a prayer chain at your church, start a prayer for this family. " For if you believe in your heart, you must confess with your lips. " Prayer is a very powerful, it can and does make miracles happen.

May God put a blessing into your life.

That is such a beautiful prayer! Barb and her family were at a Battens Disease conference this week, but when she returns she is going to check in here at DIS. She's been to my site, but she's never been here and she wants to say thank you to everyone personally. She is very grateful for all the prayers and kind wishes. Her son Christopher was still doing well right before she left, so hopefully he will hang in there.
