Practically Perfect at the Poly? **UPDATE 7/28 -- And We're Back!!

Tina, I've been enjoying your trip report and wanted to wish you well. Happy that Max's surgery went well. Hope you enjoy your girls trip to the happiest place on earth! Wish I were going!

Tina, I already sent my "thoughts and "likes" on FB, but I wanted to come here and say I'm glad all went well with Max. Snuggle up and enjoy CARS!

Thanks!

Somehow I missed your last update and when you mentioned that Max would be having surgery. But I'm glad that it's over and went well....I think he needs some ice cream! (Yes, I know it wasn't a tonsilectomy or anything, but I think he needs some ice cream anyway. ;))

He definitely has had some ice cream. :lmao:

Tina, I am so happy to hear that Max is doing well after his surgery! :goodvibes I can only imagine the relief you feel!

And Yay! for you still getting to go on the girls' trip! :cheer2:

Thanks...it is a HUGE relief..so much so that I now just entirely exhausted. :sad2: I shouldn't be surprised though. Its almost like when you're bracing yourself against a fall or something and do more damage to your body because you tensed up so much. If that makes sense.

...and yes, I am thrilled that I'll be going and everything's all set. :woohoo:

YAY for Max! I'm so glad everything went well for him today. I'm sure you are very relieved too. Enjoy your weekend with your guys.

Thanks!

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Tina, I am thrilled to hear that Max's surgery went well and that you are all back home!

 Thanks, Karin!

I was so happy to read all your positive FB posts so I knew that Max was just fine. Aren't childrens' hospitals wonderful? From the smallest procedure to a life threatening illness, they really work to allay the fears of parents.

Didn't realize Max's surgery was canceled twice. I get you are SO glad this is behind you! Hope you have an awesome weekend! :goodvibes

They really are. They were just amazing.

Yes, it was...:sad2: It was really frustrating. The first one was cancelled the day before it was supposed to happen. But I'm just so thankful that its done and everything went well. :goodvibes

:woohoo: I am so glad that everything went well with Max's surgery. I know how nerve wrecking it can be... and when they come out of anesthesia... it is so hard to watch. :sad2: Glad you have the weekend to relax!

I'm really glad Max's surgery went well. I had to watch Landon come out of anesthesia once and it is very hard to do. Enjoy your weekend off! :goodvibes

I'm so happy to hear that Max's surgery went well!!!! :goodvibes

When last we spoke, we were making our way through a very empty Liberty Square, headed for an adventure....an adventure with pirates, of course! There was virtually no line and we had a great little ride through the Caribbean.

From here, I wanted to grab FPs for the Jungle Cruise, but Max had another idea.

And no, not that actually...

It was the first time we’d ever taken the Magic Carpet Ride. It was really fun! Not wait in a really long line fun, but fun nonetheless and a reasonable stand-in for the dearth of Dumbo. Plus, we found Jasmine and Aladdin hiding behind the ride in what I am fairly certain is there usual spot.

At this point, I think I went and grabbed some FPs for the Jungle Cruise. So, what to do next? I had made the mistake at the very beginning of the day of telling Max that we’d be going to an island to check out a sorta, kinda playground-y thing, ie. Tom Sawyer’s Island. Once Max had this in his head and gave it a bit of time to germinate, it was all he wanted to do. But I was able to hold him with a visit to a certain treehouse, owned by one Swiss Family Robinson. This is an attraction I had not stepped foot on since I was a kid. And it was very cute, at least just this once. And afforded vantage points for some great pictures.

Having taken our tour, I was looking forward to our Jungle Cruise, but Max had something a bit more American in mind..aboard a raft...on our way to Tom Sawyer’s Island.

Our time on Tom Sawyer’s Island was fantastic. It was one of those places in the Magic Kingdom that I dimly remembered from when I was kid, but hadn’t seen since. Max obviously loved having the chance to run around and explore. It was a nice little respite from the bustle everyplace else.

Max had worked up quite an appetite with all the running and exploring, so we went back to the mainland to find some lunch.

I finally made my way through your report (up until now) and I am loving it so far.

I am looking to stay at the Poly with my family next trip, so I love all the pictures.

Also, can't wait to read about your girls trip (once that's posted too):thumbsup2

Tom Sawyer Island is so perfect for little kids. Max looks like he was having so much fun there. Isn't it magical when they have something at Disney that they want to do?

We always enjoy TSI. I am glad to hear that it was fun for Max as well. :goodvibes Swiss Family Tree house on the other hand is not a favorite... seems like the line ride/attraction to me.... just keep walking through...

Sounds like your morning is continuing to go well. Adventure land is such a paradise for little boys (and girls, too, I presume). We always enjoy a walk thru the Treehouse, but I have never seen the view of Splash Mountain before! That was really cool. Maybe they have done some pruning up there.

Tom Sawyer Island is a fun little distraction too. Glad Max enjoyed it.

Max is such a cutie! Glad to hear his surgery went well. I have only been to TSI once, and once was enough :rotfl: The treehouse is always a good chance to get some great pictures at a different vantage point. Hey, you're only 8 days away from going back?! You must be bursting with excitement!!!

So...for some reason...I cannot stop thinking about how to make my upcoming trip the best, most magical trip ever that involves plenty of adult beverages and no kids. That said, as of right now, we're going to evening EMHs at MK the night of my arrival. That piece of this puzzle is non-negotiable. I would like to stop at Guest Services to purchase my TIW card.

We then have an ADR at the Wave at 8:00. I figured, I haven't tried it yet, its convenient, and folks seem to have pretty positive things to say about it. I also figure the meal will probably not take us longer than an hour a half max, at which point we are walking back over to MK around 9:30. We will then walk into MK to find a spot to watch Wishes! I realize this might not be easy, as the show will be starting not long after we get to MK and people will have already staked out their positions.

So, I began to think...always dangerous....and thought about Kona again. We had great meals there and then afterwards, we can enjoy a post-meal drink at either Tambu or the pool bar and watch the fireworks from the comfort of the Poly Beach. We'd then go to MK after that (its open 'till 3).

What would you do? Would you want to deal with a crowd to see the show at MK? Or would you rather just chill with a drink on the beach? Just writing this makes it seem like a no-brainer!

I could have sworn I had commented on your latest update earlier! Max looks like he had a great time on TSI - I don't think I've ever been there, actually! But it looks like a fun place for kids to run around and explore!

My vote is for dinner at Kona - drinks on the beach - MK after that. I'm not a fan of battling crowds when you can have a nice peaceful time at the Poly and get to see the show as well!

I think we're going to try to catch Wishes from the Poly beach this year....and as for the Wave or Kona -- I've eaten at both and Kona was the one I liked best, by far.

:welcome: I'm glad you're enjoying my little TR.

Max had a great time; it was a place where he could run around unstructured. Loves that. Sometimes I think he prefers that to an actual ride.

True about the tree house. Doubt we'll ever do it again, at least I hope not! :rotfl:

Thanks, I think he's pretty cute, too. And yes, I'm down to seven...and now that I've jumped the surgery hurdle, I'm starting to get really excited. I'm dreading this week at school, though. Hope its a quick one!

TSI is definitely for little kids. There isn't much out there, other than caves and pathways for kids to run around and explore.

Thanks for the vote for Kona. I just checked Disney's site and it seems that there is plenty of availability at Kona that evening, so I can hold off on making a decision for a bit. Although we are talking about dinner next week! :rotfl:

Thanks for input. We did love our meal at Kona this year. More to think about...

I'm going to vote for Kona/fireworks on the beach, too. I loved when I watched the Electrical Water Parade and the fireworks show (solo) from the Poly beach and then hopped in a taxi back to my resort by 10:30.

Or, like you said, you could go for some late time at MK.

I haven't eaten at Kona or the Wave, so I can't comment on the food aspect, but I do think that drinks on the beach and watching Wishes in peace sounds awfully nice.

Happy Easter!!!!

Did I ever tell you about being Thumper in my elementary school's production of Bambi? Well, I was. Mostly because I had the biggest mouth. :rotfl:

HAPPY EASTER!

Love your update! I haven't done the Treehouse or Tom Sawyer Island since I was a kid. May have to see if we have time for those on our trip this year.

As for your question about the girls' trip.....I would choose Kona with drinks on the beach! :cloud9:

Reid would probably love Tom Sawyer Island...the Treehouse...not sure. If he has a fascination with stairs and/or treehouses he might really like it.

I believe that I have come to a decision and have changed our ADR to Kona. :woohoo: If it were me, alone, that's absolutely the choice I'd make, so I'm running with that.

Just got caught up with everything! So glad your little guy is doing better, it is awful watching them wake up from sedation. :sad2:

Tom Sawyer island looks so neat...we haven't explored it yet but hope to on our next trip! Looking forward to more!
