potentially ridiculous question: Buying Used Magic Bands?

For whatever reason, my DH really wants an orange MB, but the Disney website is sold out of them. He thinks I should look on ebay. Do people sell used Magic Bands? Is there a reason not to buy one if they do? Of course, he has to have the color they're out of. I can wait and watch for them to go back in stock, but I'd really rather move on with my life. TIA!

Magic Bands can't be transferred, so the only way buying from ebay would work is if they've never been used. However, I'm confused. According to your signature, you're doing a split stay between ASSp and an offsite resort - if that's the case, you don't need to buy Magic Bands, you get them with your onsite stay.

I believe that unless they are BRAND NEW (meaning not linked to an account) you can run into trouble with trying to use it because it is linked to a specific person/account which I don't believe can be rewritten. I would tell him to pick a new color or risk not being able to get into the park.

Previously used MBs can't be used by other guests.

Why do you need to buy MBs?

People only buy used ones if they want to use them for Disney Infinity or if they want what the RFID capability can access in the parks.

If you do order him a color that he doesn't like, he can keep the MB in his pocket until it needs to be used.

Plenty of orange MB available in all the MK and Epcot stores I was at yesterday. Just because it's no available on the Disney store doesn't mean they are gone for good. And if you are booking a room or buying an AP and receiving free bands the options should be available online. Disney store isn't the same as the ticket sales.

Orange MagicBands are also available via the Shop Disney Parks app.

But as already noted by PPs here and on your other thread, you'll receive free MagicBands with your onsite resort reservation.

Yes, this is confusing with us....we have an onsite reservation for myself and the kids, but DH is off site. Realistically, my kids are staying on site with my mom and DH and I are staying off site. I know this is weird, but we were gifted an off site condo and my mom didn't want to stay off site, so she booked on site and I know the kids will want to stay with her. We couldn't put all of us on my mom's reservation because we'd go over room occupancy. Clear as mud?

And your mother leaves and you'll be there for a couple more days. Got it!

Just add the Shop Disney Parks app if you need to buy his MB soon. Or, you can wait and buy his MB when you arrive at the resort. It's easy to link up to his MDE Profile.

Are the kids actually listed on the onsite reservation? As long as they are, they'll get Magic Bands.

Her kids and she are listed. They just couldn't list her DH due to room limits. I think OP is only concerned about her husband and the etickets she's ordering.

Change the name on the onsite reservation to your DH
Order him an orange MB and buy whatever color you want for yourself
Or just order an orange one for yourself and let your DH use it
As long as he is the only one that uses it to enter the park it will always be tied to his finger print

I was missing the fact that it's her DH that wanted the orange Magic Band - I thought it was her DS.

I recently bought two unused, in-package Magic Bands from Ebay because they were sold out online (Space Mountain Mickey and Elsa) and didn't want to wait to buy them in the parks. If you just make sure it hasn't been used and/or linked (which it won't have, if it's in the package), it'll work just fine.

How does it being in the package mean it's unused?
It is very easy to take them out and put them back in
At least some of them are

Sure they could, but anything you buy on Ebay could be not as represented, in which case you open a claim against the seller. But I've bought lots of stuff on Ebay and have never had a problem, including the two Magic Bands I recently purchased (which successfully linked on MDE and wouldn't have if they had been used). If the Ebay seller says it's new in the package, and the seller has a good rating, you'll probably be fine.

You could take $6 with you to Home Depot and buy a can of orange Plasti-Dip. That would solve your problem right there ;

OP, I see the orange MB's available on Disneystore.com if you want one prior to your trip. Personally, I would save on the shipping and just buy one when I got there. The store CM's can very easily link the MB to your MDE account and off you go. Also, your DH doesn't need a MB to use his tickets. Does he just want an MB?

I went online this morning to look at the magic bands for our trip and was able to add an orange one to my bag.
