potentially ridiculous question: Buying Used Magic Bands?

OP, I see the orange MB's available on Disneystore.com if you want one prior to your trip. Personally, I would save on the shipping and just buy one when I got there. The store CM's can very easily link the MB to your MDE account and off you go. Also, your DH doesn't need a MB to use his tickets. Does he just want an MB?

For what it's worth, for any that are shopping for one, if you order via the Shop Parks app, there is free shipping right now, till 1/31. I ordered the Valentine Band yesterday (afraid they'll run out before I get there next month)

Create a second "bogus" MDE account. Put in nine fictional family members. Book a one night stay at one of the campsites. Get whatever colors available in MDE. Get the bands in the mail around the 30 day mark. Cancel trip getting back deposit. Use bands to get day of FPs!!!

For whatever reason, my DH really wants an orange MB, but the Disney website is sold out of them. He thinks I should look on ebay. Do people sell used Magic Bands? Is there a reason not to buy one if they do? Of course, he has to have the color they're out of. I can wait and watch for them to go back in stock, but I'd really rather move on with my life. TIA!

And yes, there are alternate solutions described in posts of this thread.
Such as ordering an orange MB for another member of the party (who IS staying at a WDW resort) and "trading" the MBs when they get to WDW.

I think this is what I'm going to do because as of right now our 2 year old is getting an MB because of her resort reservation....

How can you "trade" the ordered ones when they come linked? Example the 2 year olds they are thinking of using. Wouldn't it be linked to the 2 year old and not the husband so he wouldn't be able to use his entry and fastpasses?

But your two year old won't have ticket entitlements or FPs linked. Your DH will be wearing an orange MB that doesn't link to anything.

If an adult orders an orange MB and has the same number of ticket entitlements and FPs that your husband has, then you can trade bands before you enter the first park.

That's why my suggestion was to either 1 - change the name of the adult on the on site reservation to the DH or 2 - switch bands and let DH use the one ordered for OP from the start.

Why not just buy an orange MB upon arrival and put all the worry and stress to rest?

If she adds her DH to the onsite room reservation, that's an additional $10 -$25 dollars per night.

OP should either order an orange for herself and then buy one for herself/trade with husband or order through the app as you highly suggested. Perfect suggestions for her, Angi!

Actually I meant remove herself from the onsite and add her DH.
I believe she said she and her kids are on it but she and her DH will not be staying on site, just the kids will be. If that is the case, she'll get a band and they need to buy 1 more

Yes, I'm afraid we are confusing her as she has at least 3 different threads regarding different aspects of this trip. The Shop Disney Parks app purchase is the best scenario.

Yes, it's a fabulous app! It launched last year sometime.
I have ordered so much with it, it's not funny.
I love how you can get things that are from the various shops, including the countries all over Epcot.
When I order the fun part is how they package them.
It's like using the ship to home function while shopping in the parks.
Each specific store does the shipping, vs. a warehouse.
You often get little stickers or personal notes from the CM that packages it for you.

Oh, and last Oct I used it to find a couple of items I knew I wanted while I was there. Just a quick search and a click or two and it shows you where to find it on site

yes, obviously I'm confused. We haven't been since 2012, before all of the high tech changes and I'm a little lost. We've also never stayed off site and have my mom throwing in the confusion of not staying with us (she wanted to be on site) and not staying for the same length of time (so our tickets go past when she will leave.) I'm sorry if I've started too many threads. Thanks for the help.

So I went down this path recently for a completely different reason. I was trying to get the unlocks for Disney Infinity. But if you think about it, no one should ever sell their used MBs. There is a data on there that you do not want to let out.

Everyone above has given you great advice about getting new ones for the trip as you have.
