POTC closing on May 11th

Sweet! We arrive September 25th.

We arrive on the 25th as well. Can't believe it, we never have good luck with the refurbs and this one was rumored to last six month. Very happy for all of us that will benefit from the Sept opening, but I feel for everyone that will miss it.

That is a long refurbishment, hopefully it will run better than ever. Fingers crossed that it will get done on time!

Darn. We'll be there a little too early. We'll be there Labor Day weekend so we'll miss it by a couple of weeks.

it needs it bad. something is terribly wrong with the track at the end of the drop. the last two times I rode it it jerked so badly that I bruised my knee when it slammed into the seat in front of me. nothing like that had ever happened before. glad to see it will be fixed because.... Pirates is awesome

Anyone else feeling uneasy about riding it up until May 11th since they are saying the refurb is in regards to safety concerns

When we rode it this past Saturday it hung up briefly immediately after the drop. I was on the 5th row and water poured in on me. We rode back in September and had no issues at all but the boat wasn't as full. They filled every boat up to capacity when we were there this past weekend so I can't help but wonder if that's related.

I don't get why they didn't do this MAJOR refurb during the off season for such a popular ride??? We went for the first time in years last summer and it was three days before we could get on the ride bc of closures. Sad that it's happening this summer, during our vacation

From what I've heard it's a combination of a lot of things that need to be fixed on the ride, from show scenes to the boats, to the track. The new boats don't work very well apparently, and ride evacs have been more frequent. The drop can soak the boats or even jump off track at times (not dangerously, but it does stop the ride). The boat unload area seems to be an extreme trouble spot as well. It needs the refurbish, 4.5 months is probably too short.

Yeah bummer, but I was already preparing for this based on earlier threads. Second trip in past ten years with no POTC . Oh we'll, plenty of other things to do

My nephew is going to be so upset. It is his favorite ride. I will say that it needs it. Last Oct when we were there, there were several time I noticed that it was down on the phone app. Oh well, I'll look forward to seeing it next year.
