Also do you need to have the front desk call you a cab or are there usually cabs waiting?

Often there was a taxi waiting at the front door at Pop, but it was very easy when there was not. I called myself once, but the bellman did it usually.

Excellent idea for a thread. I can't tell you how many friends I have told to take a taxi when going from resort to resort for dinning. I don't remember exact fares but from BCV to either AKL or GF was about $14 plus tip, so as stated before keep the $20's handy.

After speaking with a very informative driver, he told us that they were specifically "licensed" to work in WDW proper, but could not do the airport runs. The taxi's that did the airport runs could not do the resort to resort stuff. If you disregarding this "rule" you could be banned from the property. FYI. Mears is probably a different story.

4 of us will need to get from AKL to FW on a Saturday morning for the FW 8:30 Segway tour. We were told to be there 15 minutes early, at the place where Mickey's Backyard Barbecue takes place. I'm figuring that we should leave AKL around 7:15 and take a cab that will get us to where the internal busses run at FW.

Will the cabs at AKL generally know how to get to FW? Do you think that I'm leaving enough time? Approx. cost for the 4 of us?

I was also wondering if the cabs fit 4 people. How long would it take to get from SSR to MK? I'm thinking this may be a lot better than waiting for the busses for our 8:15 CRT ADR. Thanks!

We took a cab from AKL to the Poly in December and it was $20 including tip. I would imagine it would be about that to AKL from MK, but I guess you have to go to the TTC to get a cab? Maybe go to a monorail hotel and get a cab from there?

Boardwalk to Polynesian - About $17...

When we asked about the difference in the fare, since the Poly was actually closer, the taxi driver THEN informed us that his was a FIXED rate of $17.

Consequences....lower tip for him!
