Oct. 29, 2010 Friday MNSSHP

My DD (10) was Strawberry Shortcake and I was Blueberry Muffin

I had sewn on El-wire to our costumes so at night we lit up. There were 3 settings we coud choose from : fash blink, slow blink or steady. We used steady the most followed by slow blink. We left fast blink alone. My DH and DS (13) wore matching black hooded robes.

We added a few glowstick touches (around wrists, ankles, my hat) and my DD and I wore glowbys in our hair.

leaving the park after midnight...what a fun time we had :stitch2:

My sister was a "pirate ghoul" I was a zombie queen and mom was a witch :) No elaborate costumes but we had a great time and got tons of candy!!!!

I think I've decided on being Tink, mainly because it will be cool & I'll be playing her for work right after coming home from the trip (oh the awesomeness of working at a dinner theatre :rotfl:)
One of the guys I'm going w/is going to be a pirate, so we're kind of themed haha

My DD11 has picked to be Tink too and my friend who does custom tutu dresses is making her costume. Because we all want in on the action this year, we are trying to stay themed, so Tink of course made us think of Peter Pan, but we decided to go with the fairies instead, unless my teens bail on us at the last minute.

So far, DS says he will be Terrance, he just doesn't know about the wings. :rolleyes1 Dressing him will be easy, brown shorts, shirt and a vest with a cap, so he was definitely okay with that..he already has stuff that he could combine together to get that look. DD16 likes Fawn and Rini both so she hasn't decided yet which one to choose. I will be Queen Clarion. I was actually cleaning out my closet today and found a gold sundress that is perfect and will be suitable for the weather down there, so for sure my youngest and I are set.

Do you think people will get who we are? :confused3 Not that we care too much...we will be too happy about being there to care what others think, lol. :dance3:

I'm going as a modern Drizella of course ;)

And I'm having a bright green shrug with poofy sleeves to match my shoes made through Etsy and also a large turquoise bow headband =)

And I'm doing hair and makeup like Drizella.

And a Tremain pendant, it's actually going to be more greyish than purple, for the mother, with purple and turquoise rhinestones for the girls, this was an example:

DD4 will probably be Rapunzel and I am thinking Mother Gothel.
DH?? I don't think we could pull Flynn together and I think it would be too hot.

We've been a couple times. Our first MNSSHP we were Yzma and Kuzco, our second we were characters from Studio Ghibli's Princess Mononoke, and last year we went as characters from Labyrinth (we were well received by many other party goes and costumed characters alike).
This year we're still trying to decide but I'm leaning towards chefs from Ratatouille and, of course, a rat.

The best part was my husband started talking in line so someone who stopped him mid-sentence to let him know they went to high school together. Hilarious! He didn't mind wearing tights until there was someone he knew looking at him. lol

labyrinth!! My favourite film.. The costumes are amazing!

My mom is making my 2 DDs pink sparkling "Jasmine" costumes. DS wants to be Harry Potter or Anikan Skywalker... but I think both costumes will be too hot in September. If I talk my mom into Aladin pants - are shirts for 7 year olds mandatory in the park?

it is a while since we have visited MNSSHP but on the occasions we have there has just been two adults and we have dressed up - we certainly didn;t feel out of place.

This year we are visiting for the first time with our DS (6) and we will all be dressing up - just trying to come up with something we can all dress up as cheaply - we were thinking of going as Jake and the Neverland Pirates but that could change.

Idk I'd imagine they are but aladin wears a vest so if you make it a buttons le vest that may b good enough or just a tank maybe

We tend to be lo-key costume folks. In 09 I wore the "por favor mantengase alejado de las puertas" tee shirt which is white with green text and a pair of lime green capris and I went as monorail green :) DH went even lower-key and wore a tee-shirt that read "real men shoot hippos" and a safari hat. (Many may remember on the old jungle cruise the tour guide shot at the attacking hippos. Much like Han shooting 1st, it was decided this was uncool) The jungle guide we had the night of MNSSHP thought his tee was really funny and lamented his loss of firearms ;) For some reason the Pirates folks thought it was funny too :confused3

My DD10 is really considering being a gypsy this year. DS3 I thought was going to want to be a pirate, but after showing him a ghostbuster costume (he's been watching that movie lately) I think his mind is made up

LMAO...those are some great costumes. And my son will curl into the fetal position and cry should we run into any of his high school friends while he is dressed as Flynn Rider (wig, chin hair, satchel and all :rotfl:).
