This is going to be my costume this year...
il_570xN.241103781.jpg

With a few accessories of course, I am going to be a pirate. DH will be a pirate also, but I don't have a pic of his costume.

We kept changing out minds. I made myself a Pokemon Trainer costume, but DH only wants to wear the personalized Penn State Nike football jersey I bought for him. I guess he'll be that, I'll be the Pokemon trainer, and DS will be the Power Ranger.

eta: satorifound, that dress is beautiful!!!!!

Last year, I was a pirate. I LOVED my dress...then I got to the park and found out five or six other young women had my exact same one. I didn't feel as cool then :sad2:

This year, I decided to do something different. My mom got a sewing machine a few months ago and has become fairly accomplished with it. She's made me several skirts for theater school that were comfortable and looked great. In February of this year, I was supposed to me Ariel at the high school I graduated from's second annual Princess Party. Last year, I wore a pink Juliet dress that we rented. It wasn't very comfortable and it was dry rotting in places :sad2: We had a Cinderella, Snow White and another girl who just said she was her but a princess. They tried to pass me off as "Sleeping Beauty" but I don't even look like her. This year, my mom had made me the corset (out of a tee shirt), skirt and bow for Ariel's town dress (I already had a blue shirt) and we ordered a wig. I was coming in special from theater school to do it...and found out it was canceled :sad2: So I had a Ariel dress in my room that's never been worn (the corset isn't even finished yet). I was going to wear that but it would be too warm in Florida so my mom and I decided to do another princess. I wanted to be Rapunzel with her brown hair (because my hair's naturally brown) but then I realized I'm dying my hair red before I go to Florida...so Giselle came to mind. My mom just finished making the "That's How You Know" dress. I just have to help put on the flowers and bow and it'll be ready for the party. In that dress, unlike the other outfit, I REALLY feel like a princess princess: instead of having it drag, like hers in the movie, we've made it go to my ankle, which is better for me because I'm a klutz and I don't want to fall

me and my sis are going to be fairies. since my sis graduated high school last year, she has countless homecoming and prom dresses. i wanted to be silvermist, and her blue dress fits me, and my sister is just going to be a fairy in an orange dress. we are going to get sparkles and jewels to "bedazzle" our dresses, and we found sparkly wings on ebay. im so excited, as this will be our first mnsshp!

Im going on October 13th as a 50's girl and my dh is wearing his baseball style jersery that has jack skelington on the front. Here is a pic of my costime what do you all think!!

I think we will be doing the baseball players idea. That's what my guys were last year for Halloween and they both have a jersey from our home AAA team. I even sewed a cheap baseball glove onto a hat to make it like our pitchers around here who put their gloves on their hats.

Does anyone know if you're allowed to wear a mask as long as you have eye holes? I was walking around hollywood studios during Star Wars Weekend and had a Darth Vader mask on where you could see through the eye holes (they were clear) and was told to take it off (albeit only by someone after two days of walking around Studios).

However, the MNSSHP website says All costumes must adhere to any guidelines as determined solely by Disney. Please choose costumes that are not obstructive, offensive, or violent. Guests' eyes must be visible at all times. Offer and event information and activities are subject to restrictions and change without notice.

I believe that over the age of 9 you will be asked to take off a mask that covers your whole face. If you had a Zorro eye mask that might be allowed, but nothing else for adults.

DH and I will be Toy Story 3 Barbie and Ken and DD and DS will Be Jessie and Woody. It will be the best night EVER!:lmao:

Love everyones costumes. Here is a picture from this past October at MNSSHP. Me, my DH and my DSS (stepson) and yes, he asked me to get him the costume. My DH and I had dressed as Woody and Jessie a few years at a MNSSHP. We had so much fun.

My youngest looks pretty much just like one of the audio-animatronic dolls from the IASW ride. He is very blond with a little "dutch boy" hair cut. I was thinking of having him dress up as one from one of the countries. Maybe with Lederhosen? Please give me some ideas! DH and I are just going to wear t-shirts to "match" whatever I put him in. I know I am cutting it close! LOL I have really procrastinated. We will be attending 10/28. :thumbsup2

I'm so excited!! We finally bought our tickets, so now it's for "real" (even though I've been piecing together costumes for 2 months).

Halloween is our big holiday. My mom always dresses in theme with the kids and I and DH no longer bats an eye when I show him whatever costume would be cool for him to wear =) Last year we all went as Star Wars characters, the year before, we were all vampires and bats and the year before that we were all renaissance folks.

This year, we will be doing MNSSHP and ToT (hopefully at DTD if that is still going on, if not, in a neighborhood somewhere- we just moved to central FL, so it won't be weird) and we wanted two costumes because we are lunatics.

For MNSSHP, we will all be Disney Villains:

Me- Maleficent
DH- Doofenschmirtz
DS 10- Shan Yu
DS 5- Tic Toc (Croc from Peter Pan)
DD 2- Queen of Hearts
My mom- Evil Queen
Her DH- Jafar
My DSis- Cruella
Her BF- Captain Hook.

For ToTing we are going as Disney Heroes:

Me- Rapunzel
DH- Flynn Rider
DS 10- Tron
DS 5- Stitch
DD 2- Cinderella
My Mom- Pocahontas
Her DH- Woody (he is very dark complected and bald, so we were not feeling the John Smith costume)
My DSis- Jessie
Her BF- Buzz

Our costumes are all mixes of premade and handmade things- especially the Evil Queen. I Can. Not. Wait.:banana:

i think i read on this thread that you can take your simple black cocktail dress, add a hat and spider stockings and you have a simple witch outfit.

how would one go about this for a man's matching outfit? a warlock?

thanks so much for any help on this.

Just finished my MNSSHP costume for next Friday the 30th!!

Sadly I don't have pics, but I can tell you about my costume from last year. (I didn't get to go to the party, sadly, but my costume was Disney-related.) I made a Cheshire Cat costume in the style of the costumes from the musical Cats (I might add that I'm a theatre major with a concentration in costuming and makeup, so admittedly this was an easier task for me than it would be for many people.) My costume basically looked like this cat: http://www.bryanbatt.com/images/cats.jpg but with purple and pink in place of the gray and black.

I  your dress !!!

We are heading to the party 22nd of October.
The whole vacation is a surprise for DS ( 11) so I cant ask what he wants to dress up as and I dont really want to bring big bulky costumes in out luggage.

The best ( and only ) idea I have is dorks/geeks.
I think this will be easy enough for DH and DS,they will have dress shorts so I can add long socks.
Then a short sleeve dress shirt with tie/bow tie and taped up broken glasses.

Im just not sure what I can wear

We had Ghost buster costumes the last 2 years and they were the best fun ever.
From the minute we walked out our hotel room the shouts of " Who ye gonnae call " started....tho by 1am DH's repies of " Ghost Busters " had lost more than a wee bit enthusiasm !!
We had people stop us all night and ask for pictures.
Every CM stopped us and even the character's made a huge fuss.

And I cant even begin to tell you the fun we had on and around The Haunted Mansion !!!

If DS had not out grown his we would be wearing them again this year.

Rosetta, that dress is perfect!! Do you have a stitch to go with you? If not you will have to carry one around! That is the cutest costume. Put Elvis songs on your phone. lol.

Finishing up DD's Minnie Mouse costume. Hubby is going to be Goofy, orange shirt out of his closet, old jeans with patches, brown vest from goodwill with a goofy hat we will buy there. I'm going to be Cruella. Old long black skirt with a plain black shirt out if closet, making simple shawl out of dalamtion print and lined in red. Still have to pick up a Cruella wig and long red gloves. Oh and bought a fake cigarette holder with fake cigarette. So excited!! Not really a theme going besides Disney and for mom and dad easy!
