We have an 8:30pm flight from MCO post cruise and my family would like to visit a waterpark that day. I am concerned with the luggage and am wondering if a Hotel with good waterslides would be a better choice then a waterpark. Would appreciate your thoughts and recommendations for hotels with good slides for a teenager or if waterpark the logistics of luggage storage. Bonus points if the hotel does a day pass or provides shuttle to airport.

When Southwest changed our flight after the cruise to 8:30 PM from it's originally scheduled 4:30 PM, I decided that was a no-go. We had originally booked a day-use room at the Hyatt MCO, but I decided spending that long there at just a pool was not really high on my list. Even a regular hotel usually is only going to have one slide and I can see my teen getting bored really fast.

We changed our flight to instead fly out the next morning and got a cheap room at WDW and tickets to Typhoon Lagoon. Then we'll head to the airport first thing the next morning. I don't know if that's an option for you, but trying to figure out showers and repacking and everything after spending the day at the waterpark was just too complicated.

In terms of transportation, we're renting a car. I've got a one-way rental from the port to the airport the next morning for $90, which is going to be cheaper than booking any kind of other transport from port to WDW and from WDW to the airport the next day.

My caution for booking anything is that flights can change. Our flight home got bumped up 4 hours earlier than originally scheduled. Flights seem to change so much these days that I wouldn't be comfortable making plans based around flight times.

This is exactly what happended to us. We had a flight departure of 4:30 and Alaska moved it to 8:30pm. I thought about moving to the next morning and may look into it.

Yep our flights were moved from 4:30 to 8:30 which could happen again. That is one reason were thought a hotel may be a better option as we could cancel it.
