Post all SW questions concerns, etc. here...

To be fair, when booking on points, only the person whose points were used to book a reservation can make changes or cancel on the SW website.
Thanks for explaining that.

While we have points in our accounts it has been years since we have done one and have been booking with cash only.
We have been spoiled by the $430 Costco gift card deals plus credits from other credit cards.

I thought in the past it didn't matter who's account I had logged into to modify and get the points back but that must have changed.
We have never canceled a points booking either so that might have something to do with it as well.

It has nothing to do with using points, using My CC, your CC, @TheOneWithTheTriplets credit card, luv vouchers or any other payment.

It states that if the primary card holder is ON the reservation that you can select seats at time of booking.

As long as the primary person’s RR is on the reservation it is supposed to apply this benefit but it is not.

The benefit only is applied when the primary person is doing it in that person’s account and that is the issue.
As I stated in post 16,010 in reply to another poster. The benefit states that the cardholder gets to select seats. The person booking is not the cardholder. Therefore, they don't get to select seats at booking.
Well you can call it unique if you wish but the results were the same that I posted about previously.

On day 1 of seat selection I was logged in with an account that did not have a SW CC and attempted to book 4 tickets. One of the 4 tickets included a person that was the primary card holder of the priority card and their RR account and GE were both on the reservation.
We were then prompted to pay for seats which is not supposed to be the case.
It worked as expected when I had logged in with the CC holders SW account and I could book the seats except for extra leg room for no charge.
This is definitely not how the benefits read as previously posted the primary card holder just has to be on the reservation nothing about them actually paying.

I’m glad @TheOneWithTheTriplets had the great idea and @palhockeymomof2 was able to confirm as working, to book the ticket in whatever account and then modify in the CC holders account to select the seats.

We should not have to go through these extra steps and hopefully it will be resolved shortly.
According to your reading of the terms and conditions, which is taking words at different meanings. It certainly is how the benefits read, they don't have to be paying, but they have to be the one selecting the seats.
There is nothing to resolve. The benefit is being applied as intended.

I completely missed that post.

After you pointing that out I reread footnote 20 and you are certainly correct.

Eyes were drawn a little lower to “up to eight passengers on the same reservation.” which applies to the free bag and not the seats.

So if one person has more points or in my case has all of the traveler information saved in their profile, book the seats there and then switch to the cardholder’s profile to select seats.

Another confusing question with all the policy changes. I have a flight booked for November which currently still falls under the free bags, but I want to change the flight (meaning I’ll lose free bags). I do NOT currently have a SW CC.

I’m going to sign up for the CC later this month to get the SUB. Will I get free bags on my November flight, even though I booked the flight before I had the CC?

You will get one free bag for each person on the reservation, assuming you are approved and a card holder in good standing when you fly. CC holder status is only checked when you check in and declare bags.

I have kind of a weird question…
We are burning points and decided to do a budget beach vacation that we are flying to. We are flying SW to the destination but Frontier home. We have SW credit cards so get free checked bags. We are carrying on most of our stuff, but are toying with an idea.
We were thinking of bringing our kids boogie boards (they’re from 5 Below) and just leaving them there rather than paying to bring them home. However, I don’t want to leave a bag there that is big enough to fit the boards in (38 inches by 18 inches).
Would it be allowed for me to simply put them in a taped up trash back to check them? I know it’s trashy looking but would it be allowed? I’m not super worried about bringing them or them being broken since they were cheap buys. But thought it would be nice to have if we can bring them for free.

Yes, may be able to put in a trash bag. Based on the measurements it may be oversized. They also may not guarantee them against damages. Some airlines do not allow it. So you should check their site / call to check.

You may be able to find a 38 in suitcase in a thrift store for a few dollars that they will fit in and not be oversize. You could use rolls of paper towels or old towels to stop the boards from bouncing around and not breaking. Leave the boards and suitcase when you leave. If you are crafty you could sew a canvas bag with a drawsting.
When doing past beach vacations we have purchased inexpensive camping chairs to check right in the canvas bags they came.We got 2 bags each and never checked more than 2 so was free. A few times we brought them back home.

I was checking flights and found this one. The timing seems odd. 5 minutes from Cincinnati to Nashville and about 3 hours from Nashville to MCO? That can’t be right.

It's reverting back to what it was previously and I for one am in favor of it. If you need two seats on a full flight, you need to pay for two seats. If it's not a full flight, SW will refund the cost of the ticket.
I'm not even sure how much it comes up other than I know a few posters here have asked/used it in relation to injuries but I agree with you here being proactive in having people purchase an additional seat rather than a wait and see approach will make the most sense with assigned seating. I do hope it is done smoothly, the rebooking if needed I mean.

Hmmm I’m not sure. So how do you know how much time we have in Nashville? That’s confusing.
Your arrival time is 2:45 eastern time. Your 3:35 departure time from Nashville will also be in eastern time zone. Time between 2:45ET and 3:35ET Nashville departure is how much time you’ll spend between flights so 50 minutes.

Almost right, but the Nashville times are Central, not eastern. Cincinnati and Orlando are Eastern.

Oops! but still the arrival time in Nashville & departure time are in the same time zone so 50 minutes on the ground yes? A pretty tight connection.
