Post all SW questions concerns, etc. here...

I just had to do this when I broke my ankle and had surgery less than 2 weeks before my wine and dine 10k. I requested it at the check in counter. They even got my a wheelchair because I was still non-weight bearing at that point. SW was very nice about the situation.
Thank you, exactly the answer I was looking for. Sorry about your ankle

My ankle is getting better. I still can’t run but I’m close. I strongly recommend renting an electric scooter at WDW. I had my crutches and we rented a wheelchair and scooter. The scooter was life saving. Well worth it.

Question for those that have the SW credit card. I get 2 free EBCI a year...however when I just purchased it, they were $35 each but I only got a credit for $50 back. I couldn't find anything that stated its capped at a certain price only that you get 2 free a year.
Just to quote myself. I got a letter from Chase and I still don't get it. They said I received my first free ebci on 6/9/24(I got $50 which was 2 ebci@$25) and they said I got my second free one in December also $50. But I paid for 2@ $35 so $70 total and I'm now in a new anniversary year so saying it's my second free one is wrong as well....clear as mud to me.

Another successful points refund! Just got 2k points per ticket back on our late June flights.

Interestingly, Google Flight is supposed to be tracking both of our flights for this trip and emailing me if prices drop. However, I've gotten points back on both legs without having ever gotten the notice from Google.

I was really excited when SW was available on Google tracking, thinking that I wouldn't have to keep monitoring my flights independently. Unfortunately, that's not how it's playing out.

Looking at it it seems Google alerts when they consider it a "significant" change

TBH I'm not sure Google Flights is really programmed the way that SWA presently at least does flight pricing. We all know that SWA, presently, does a lot of frequent BUT often smaller amount of sales. And how does that function with points which in terms of sales or even non-sale flight options as it does not necessarily translate to dollars. Plenty of times we'll see flights that have the same point value to book but are not the same price in dollars, sometimes the difference in dollars is $20 sometimes more, sometimes less. How does that translate to a flight tracking service especially when we don't know what "significant" means to them.

But all that said I would at least at the minimum ensure you have the functionality turned on and fine tuned to what you're wanting. If the settings aren't correct that may also help you out.

The screenshot above is for settings when done on a computer but the webpage here will show you for iPhone or Android as well

Yes, my assumption here is that it's likely to do with timing, number of tickets available, etc as to why I'm not getting notices. For instance, if at midnight it's still the higher price, then a few tickets at a lower value drop and get scooped up over the course of thee day, Google may have never caught that reduction. It's just a bummer because I was hopeful when Google started tracking SW that the service would be useful, but I'm not finding that to be the case in real time, likely because of the issues you highlighted.

I do know my settings are right as I've used the service before with success on other airlines.

I tend to forget to check frequently for price reduction only doing it every now and then and my husband doesn't always think to even though he's flying a lot for business and thus in his SWA account a lot.

It definitely would be nice not to have to feel like you need to track it yourself if a service could do it well for you so I understand wishing it would do it seamlessly

Has there been an "official" announcement from SWA about how the new seating will work?

I spoke with an agent and he told me, but I am trying to see if there is something official. This is the way it was explained to me. It seems off a bit.

You will not get your seat number at the time you book. It will work like EBCI and be assigned 24 - 36 hours before your flight.

  • Family of 4 books, they are assigned Row 7, seats 1, 2, 3 and 4
  • Single guy books, he is assigned Row 10, seat 1
  • Couple books, they are assigned Row 7, seats 5 and 6. (now all of row 7 is taken)
  • Family of 6 books, they are assigned row 8, seats 1 - 6
  • Single lady books, she is assigned Row 10, seat 2
  • Family of 5 books, they are assigned row 10, seats 2 - 6 and now lady single lady is moved to row 9, seat 1.
He made it sound like the order you book will somewhat affect where your seat in, with the understanding that there will be premium seats. He also said there will be minor flexibility for those who deal with claustrophobia and need an aisle.

That is completely different than what was told during the SW investor day a couple months ago. I will never fly SW again if it's anything close to that. The entire point of assigned seating is the ability to choose your seat for a fee, and what people are willing to pay for.
The way it's been spoken of in the airline business circles is that you will buy fare buckets like you do now. BS will map to the extra legroom seats, Anytime will map to the "premium standard" seats, WGA+ will map to the standard seats in the back, and WGA will be like Basic Economy where you get whatever is left over.
No, there has not been any official word because they aren't going to start selling it for another 6 months.

Well I just know if I can’t book a window seat I will be using a different airline.

Are you sure that person wasn't just talking about how WGA is expected to work like a Basic Economy where depending on the airline you don't pick your seat, the airline assigns one to you?

Because A-List Preferred is already advised they will be able to pick their seat at booking for no charge, A-List is advised they will be able to pick their seat I think it was 48 hours in advance of the flight for no charge. That has seemingly has always been interpreted that you will be able to select your seat for a charge at booking but your status with SWA would determine if you would be charged for it or the time period in which you wouldn't be charged for it.

This is what I found:

How does Southwest assigned seating work?

Southwest assigned seating will work similarly to other airlines: Passengers who buy the cheapest tickets can select a seat for a fee, or a seat will be assigned to them the day before their flight.

Passengers also will be able to pay for premium seats with up to 5 extra inches of legroom. About a third of Southwest's seats will be premium, and premium passengers will be among the first to board the plane.

Depending on their status, Southwest Rapid Rewards members can select seats without paying extra. A-List members can select standard legroom seats at the time of booking at no additional cost; they'll have the opportunity to upgrade to a premium seat within 48 hours of the flight at no extra cost if any are still available. A-List Preferred members can select any available seat, including extra legroom seats, at no additional cost.

I have a question about buying EBCI with a SWA credit card. We rarely fly SWA these days because they so rarely offer non-stops out of Philly. I did sign up for their cc in the fall when they were offering 80k bonus points. The cc offers 2 free EBCIs per year. We will be sending my niece and her family to FL this summer. They will only be flying SWA one way but there are 4 in her family.
If I buy 4 people EBCI, will the cost of 2 of them be refunded? Does it matter that I'm the cardholder but not the traveler?
Thanks!

Sorry if this has been asked but 750 pages is a lot to sort through. :goodvibes

Yes, that’s exactly what will happen.

Does it matter that I'm the cardholder but not the traveler?

Nope, not at all. The passenger names aren’t listed on the credit card statement. The charge hits like any other purchase & the credit is listed immediately after the charge.
