Got this email today. Looking forward to seeing more details.
We're embarking on one of the biggest transformations in our Company's history, and as a valued Member of our Rapid Rewards® community, I want to bring you along on our exciting journey to become an even better Southwest®.
Over the past few years, we have been making consistent enhancements to the experience we offer our Customers. We made significant investments to elevate our cabin experience with in-seat power, larger overhead bins, and better WiFi. Soon, we'll be launching more comfortable seats.
We have also conducted extensive research on our open-seating model. It showed a large majority of our Customers prefer assigned seats and premium, extra legroom seating options. As a result, flights with assigned seating and extra legroom will go on sale sometime in 2025. Open seating has served us well through our 53-year history, but it doesn't define who we are. As Customer preferences evolve, so will we.
I know you have questions about how this transformational change will affect your experience and loyalty program benefits. We are actively working through many details, including how the value of your benefits today translates into our new seating model without compromising the flexibility you appreciate. We promise to keep you informed, with our next update coming this fall.
Thank you for flying Southwest Airlines®. We don't take your loyalty for granted, and we're committed to staying true to who we are – the Southwest Airlines you love … even better.
Sincerely,
Bob Jordan
President, CEO, & Vice Chairman of the Board
