The desert highly discourages chainsaw... ironwood will tear your body up.. mesquite is very fine dusty and well... they do cut them down.. but an expensive project..so most of them get cut to 6 feet high and then strung with lights

I have a vintage lantern which belonged to my great grandparents and they used it before electricity, but it's not likely a mining lantern. No coal or gold mined on their property. Mostly corn, wheat, and beans.
