Possible Upgrade to Cabin 8602

I received a call today from Disney.

I'm not sure why, but they want to upgrade us from a Cat 4 stateroom (8540) to Cat 3 (Handicapped - 8602),.

WOULD WE BE CRAZY NOT TO ACCEPT THE UPGRADE?

I have until noon tomorrow to make a decision.

Keep in mind that Cat. 3 is concierge. That means having the staff book your spa, Palo, and other hard to get ressies. Also FULL breakfast and FULL dinner room service if you want it. And you get to pre-board and not stand in a huge line. And I did read somewhere that you can get a massage right on your own balcony. The pixie dust possibilities are endless. Grab it up before they change their mind. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Wow! That's great! I would just love to get a upgrade from a cat 9 to a cat 7. I'm hoping some will still be available when we check in, but won't hold my breath.

8602 has at least twice (perhaps three times) the square footage of 8540.

And 8602 has a huge verandah!

We were in 8600 in September.

A few things about 8600 - not sure if 8602 is exactly the same:

1. Unlike most Cat. 3 - it only has a sofa bed and the bed in the bedroom. There is no pull down murphy bed.

2. It has 2 showers - it does not have the Jacuzzi tub found in most Cat. 3.

3. The verandah is huge - but the bottom part is metal and you can't see through it.

4. It has easy access to deck 9 and the buffet, but you can hear some sounds in the morning when they re-arrange chairs.

Now - you would be crazy not to take a free upgrade.......

We were so spoiled (we were upgraded from a 5-3 for free) - that we booked a 4 and waitlist for a 3 on our Easter cruise...... It was expensive when we finally got the 3 - but worth it. You'll be spoiled......

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. My DH also agrees that we would be crazy not to upgrade. We will be traveling with DS 15 and DD 10, so the extra space will definately be a plus. I'm also looking forward to not having to do the "ressies" rush.

I will let everyone know once everything is confirmed.

In turn, I hope someone else has the good fortune of receiving an upgrade. I know how exciting it is.

WOW!!! this is WONDERful!! We too, have booked a cat 4 and figured that an upgrade would never happen. This gives us hope! May more pixie dust be spread upon your trip!

Well, lucky you. I jsut the phone call and they asked me if I wanted to upgrade from cat 4 to Cat. 3 (8598 to 8602) but it costed me $2200.
Needless to say, I did it (given I had waitlisted Cat 3 when I booked).

Do they want you to pay for the upgrade? If it is a lot more and money is an issue, I personally wouldn't do it. Cat. 4 is nice enough considering I am not planning to hang around the room much.
