Possible New Resorts!

Didn't the movie Haunted Mansion take place in New Orleans? French Quarter is about to be rehabbed so I wonder if they are going to renovate some of the rooms with that theme.

That might interest my d in staying there! But I think that there would be too much interest in a Haunted Mansion type resort for them to put it into the smallest resort on property.

I would love a haunted mansion theme!!! That is my 2nd favorite ride next to Pirates!!! I hope they choose that one:cool1:.

Royal theme holds no appeal to me....if I am not sleeping in the castle then why bother????:lmao:Plus I have 2 little boys so they would hate it!!!

As a PP commented about the pirate rooms at CBR, we loved them. We had mattress on both of our beds, so I don't know what other people slept on, but our stay in the pirate rooms was fantastic!!!

Sounds interesting if they are building a new resort or resorts, but not if they are only going to change an existing moderate's theme since they already have the values with the "kiddie" themes and if they change over existing mods, for sure I will never stay in a mod again and will be forced to pay for deluxe accomidations. I know Disney is family oriented but mature couples without small children love going to Disney too and mods are a good choice if one does not want to pay top dollar to stay onsite,

The HM at Disneyland is in New Orleans Square and is in a similar style to the POFQ, so that could make sense... if you've familiar with the HM at Disneyland.

I would love a Pirates themed hotel if it was similar to the beginning of the Disneyland version of the ride. I like Port Orleans because it's the closest thing I can get to that atmosphere. I'd love to be able to sit in a rocking chair in a Blue Bayou-type setting, twilight and fireflies bouncing at any time of the day, without having to go out into the heat and get eaten by bugs. I could see a lobby/sitting area done in that fashion.

hmm all sounds very interesting, maybe the HM theme is to tie in with the new movie coming out, and there is also another pirates coming out too.

Would be nice to see the HM theme because as pps have said pirates have been done, and aren't they doing the new value resort with lots more themes as well?

As for the royal theme cute but not really a theme that would be of interest to me.

Did anyone manage to get a copy of the photos that they were shown on the survey?

I think the Haunted Mansion sounds interesting, but it would be even better if they made the Hollywood Tower Hotel instead. I would stay there! (But maybe I would use the stairs instead of the elevator). ;)

:rotfl:

I just took the same survey, they stated several times that it would be "room decor" - not a whole new themed resort. The price given per night was $159.

I thought the PotC theme looked very much like the existing Pirate-themed rooms in CBR. The other two themes were nice, especially the HM - very fun!

Unfortunately, when asking if we'd be likely to stay there, they reiterated that it would be a moderate resort room, and so I had to say "not likely at all," as we don't really care for the mods.

I just took the survey too :goodvibes Mine definitely repeatedly stated these rooms would be $30 more a night  When they first asked about the Haunted Mansion theme, my response was a "10" for most interested but after seeing the photos I went down to no interest  It was not what I was picturing and found the photos to be dark and depressing  They tried to make the beds look like doom buggies but to me they looked small and uncomfortable :confused3 The survey kept mentioning that the room size would be the same :rolleyes1

Okay, I may not want it for my whole vacation since we usually stay in a one bedroom villa or deluxe, but the doom buggy beds sound so fun for a couple of nights!! I adore Haunted Mansion, and think it would be great to have at least some rooms at POFQ like that.

Isn't CBR already somewhat POTC themed... I mean all the pool renos included pirate themes and the pirate rooms. Plus I can't imagine them redo-ing all the Nemo rooms. That reno wasn't THAT long ago.

Wish I could see the pictures of the haunted mansion themed resort - that seems great (and different!!!)

Yes, I thought of that but if they truly wanted the whole resort with a pirates theme and not just a section then they would have to get rid of Nemo.

Nope, would have no interest. This is part of the reason we won't stay at the CBR -- don't care for the "themed" rooms. I don't need a bed shaped like a doom buggy. If they did this to the moderate we stay at, we would have to start spreading our trips out more and go back to deluxes (which I really DON'T want to do).

Re: the $30 extra vs. $159/night, it could be that they're also trying to gauge how the price affects the rest of the survey. Is there a signficant difference in answers between those who got the $30 vs. the $159?

Not knowing what exactly is on the survey, it's hard to tell what information they're truly looking for.

I thought only part of the resort had the themed rooms and that you could still get regular rooms? It hasn't taken over the entire resort IIRC.

I thought the HM rooms looked like the most fun, and they put in some great details - like glowing footprints that appear as the evening wears on.

Regarding the $30 vs. the $159 - we were being surveyed on our most recent stay at AKL, which is a deluxe resort, and I think we paid close to $159/nt. Perhaps the respondents who were staying in value, mod or deluxe were given different pricing details, according to what they spent on their most recent room rate? For instance, we did a split stay that trip, and moved to the GF - we did not get a survey for our GF stay, nor was it mentioned in this survey.

Are these surveys coming to your email or are they on the WDW website?

Correct. The vast majority of the rooms at Caribbean Beach are standard rooms. There are 2112 rooms at CBR and of those only 384 are the pirate themed rooms. All of the themed rooms are located in the Trinidad South section of the resort. You make the choice at the time of booking between having a standard room or having (paying for) a themed room.

The pirates rooms are the ones from Caribbean Beach.

It came in my email. It made reference to my recent stay at POFQ in May.
