HI. I would appreciate prayers in the weeks to come for my mother.

She tested positive on 3 different occasions for blood in her stool. THe specialist then asked for an emergency colonoscopy ASAP. This call was today, so this should happen pretty soon.

She has been experiencing many signs of late, and her Dr. said (he is NOT a specialist) to get familiar with colon cancer, and read up on it. Which, IMHO can be worse, but hey. So she has no computer, and calls me 20x per day on this topic. SO much so, I have had the occasional extra glass of drink :rolleyes1. I love my mother, but she has herself dead and buried, asked me to go pick out the jewelry I want now, and anything else. Just can not get into her head it MIGHT NOT BE CANCER.

She has had 3 bouts with Cancer, so it is hard for her , and i get that. She had thyroid cancer, ovarian, and skin cancer. All requiring quite the surgery or treatment.

So, all in all a sad day for me. I find it hard to handle, as I am alone to handle her stress. I will cope.

So please, if ever you had time to offer prayers, or thoughts, they are appreciated.

I know a lot of people don't understand how hard it is to continuously deal with illnesses back to back. But, they can totally make you forget a lot of what is going on outside your family. I apologize if ever that has happened here, and I hope to GOd it does not happen.

XOXO

 You need a big hug

Dealing with sick parents can be so difficult and totally exhausting. Hopefully they can arrange the colonoscopy soon so that at least you all have a clear picture of what is going on and what needs to happen in the future.

I know it is hard but do try and take a few minutes out for yourself just to relax or rest. It is freezing cold and rainy here so I was going to suggest a nice warm bath with a hot cup of tea but I guess it is probably not appealing if you are having hot weather.

Take care

I will add you to my shower list (that's where I pray because I..um....have the time AND it reminds me to pray each day).

You are right, it might NOT be cancer (mine was colitus)....but you will probably never convince her of that right now. Fear rules - especially when you battle a former foe.

Now let me tell you my mother's story (she will turn 90 in November).

Mom is of the generation where you didn't go to the doctor unless you were this side of dead.....so when I walked in her home one afternoon in June of 2001 and saw the "go lightly"....I knew something was up.

We were told to "find a surgeon this afternoon". We did - a great surgeon. The cancer had spread....he removed everthing he could short of a full colostemy. After the biopsy reports were read, her Oncologist told us "we are measuring her life in months, not years". That was June 2001. I cried...and then I decided to make each day for her REALLY special.

I still work on making her smile each day. She now lives with me and will break 90 on November 8th. She is a pistol!

Do not EVER give up hope - EVER.

Can I take a moment everyone?

There are few things in medical science which can PREVENT the sadness of cancer like a colonscopy. I never give up chanting the praises of early intervention. If my mother had a colonscopy 10 years earlier, she would have had an innocent pollup removed - gone home - had a GREAT nap and avoided all the agony of cancer.

It's easy. I have colitus and I have them every other year (and I am a WIMP).

The tally of the people I have saved in my life by pushing them into having a colonscopy is now four...(early cancers found and treated without surgery).

I mean it.....if you need someone to drive you to and from the proceedure....PM me and I will be there for you. THAT's how important this is.

...........and we all call the prep the night before....ethnic cleansing.

To the original poster....I apologize for standing on my soapbox. Nothing is more frightening than not knowing. She sounds like an amazing and tough lady. God has watched over her......I bet he is checking in on her right now.

Please let us know how things turn out. Don't forget Miss Wanda (My mom)....miracles happen. Also....don't forget about YOU. There is nothing wrong about taking help from friends. I am an only child and thought I could do everything myself. Sometimes you cannot. Remember, friends WANT to help you......asking for their help will make THEM happy.

You probably know already....you always seem to find the courage when you really have to. You can do it - I have no doubt.

Good luck......good prayers are falling on you right now.

 Prayers for your mom. I am sure it is hard on all of you, with everything you have gone through too lately. Wishing her all the best.
